I bet everyone who says that it's under powered are just stupid and have never even driven a car with that kind of power. They watch all the super/hyper-car videos on the internet and think that every car should be as fast as those cars. My M3 has 343hp and I wouldn't want any more than that in a long time! It's even too much on the track IMO.

Watched several videos on the M2, the Competition and the CS, and you’re the first to help me understand the difference between the M2 as a sports car and the likes of the 135/235 - when starting to push the 8/10ths and beyond to a loss of grip the M2 makes you feel totally secure when it does so the lateral moving of the tail feels natural and fun. As opposed to 135 and co feeling twitchy and resulting in a loss of confidence. Cheers Joe

Hey man, been watching your videos for a couple of weeks now.. I stumbled upon your channel looking at M135i videos, I ordered one just over a month ago, love your content and reviews! keep up the good work.

Thx bud, I hear ya, I picked up a 2017 DCT(white w/standard exhaust) about 3 weeks ago and although I love the car coming from my S5, I know I'd have more fun with the manual(being in Canada probably better for winter too). They only had the DCT ,and I wanted it so bad(last one in Canada for 6 months); so I just ordered a manual(mineral grey w/m performance exhaust). It should arrive for July. Until then life could be worse being stuck with this version. Love the content, keep it up. Take it easy man!

Great vlog Joe - Your warts and all approach is excellent but despite the little quirks, your M2 is a serious piece of kit and without doubt a genuine 'M' car - ignore the doubters bud, enjoy your car and keep up the excellent work - it'll be good to see as the M2 loosens up over the next few thousand miles!

Epic video - I just bought my M235i and I couldn't agree more with you regarding the ample power it produces - can't imagine how an M2 would shift. I think many people forget that usable power and on-paper figures are two very different things...

As a M235i owner thanks for showing the contrast between the M2 and M235i. I love my M235i. The edginess of the M235i could be due to the M2 has a 2 inch wider wheel track and wider wheels but I have taken it to some country roads and it gives me all that I want. I was able to keep up in the corners with a late model Porsche 911 non-S recently.

+Chad Steelmon Yeah the M235i is one hell of a car, as I mention in the video the main differences are when you really start pushing on, the M2 gets excited whereas the M135 & 235 get a bit scary haha.

Hi Joe! Thanks for the videos! This comment is too late but I have just traded in my 2016 M135i LCI Xdrive for an 2018 LCI M2. I had real fun with the M135 in the 3 years of ownership, I live in Sweden so the Xdrive was a pearl to have with the wonderful N55 engine. I agree with you about how anyone who is saying that this car is not an M car knows nothing and never have driven one for sure. The straight performance is near, but you feel the difference in everything else, the steering, braking and most important the suspension! the way this thing swipes through corners is just a reminder av the E92 M3 (other M car i drove). The M135 is really good to "mild" driving, on the edge it just reminds you that this is the limit. The M2 is just a race car really adapted for the street, and you feel that quality when driving it! One more thing! Even if the M135 or even the new M140 are fast, the way this engine sounds and behave is just amazing. The stock exhaust system is perfectly loud and pops and cracks when you want (even with a "secret" way to open valve exhaust even in comfort), and then silent when needed. I know everyone wants a loud car, but if you daily drive and 30+, you would appreciate why the german fellows did it that way :) Just wanted to share my experience with another enthusiast, keep up the good work! :)

Your videos are what has made me decide to save for a couple years and buy an m2! I can't wait to own one☺

Thanks to bumping into your vids. I'm getting myself an M2 in Blue! Unfortunately it'll only come by next month =/ But it'll be worth the wait! Gave mum the M135i and the 130i to me bro. Still need a compact car, almost got the A45 AMG and thank god I didn't! I fell in love with the M2 as soon as I heard it turn on and took it out for a test drive lol. It's more fun to drive than our E60 M5. But anyhow, thanks for the vids! Keep em comin! =)

Took a 3 hour test drive on weekend. Dct , most amazing drive I've ever had . Power Grip and Turn in is amazing, and ohhhhh that sound !!!!!! Deposit down . Now the 6 month wait for 1 :( . Hurry up please mr BMW . Finally a car that brings smiles back . I love this car!

Why the long wait? I live in California and I got mine in two months. FTR, I also own a 2013 E92 and after driving the M2 for a week now, I still prefer my E92. IMO, the E92 looks, sound and steer much better. The only thing the M2 is better is getting out of the hole. There are so many things I'd change in this car. For one, I wished it had a dedicated M engine. Knowing BMW, that's in the future. I'd change the wheels to all satin finish and not black or at least it should be an option. I'd lower the body to at least the top of the tires. It sits higher than my E92. The seats could be better. It'll probably grow on me but for now, my E92 is king of the road.

Totally agree with you. There are many people out there who don't even own a car commenting on 'lack of power' of certain cars and yes, they are totally lost, caught up in the power trap of more is better!

my m235i breaks the rear end loose in gears 1-4. has plenty of power stock. If this M2 has more than that it should be all good. Iv logged 32000 miles on the m235i. all spirited driving and the car still drives like the day i bought it. Most enjoyable car i have ever owned to date. Cant wait to get my hands on a m2. Congrats dude.

Was your m235i a manual? I’ve had a ZF8 for the last 3 years and within a month I became relatively bored, wanting to shift my own gears

I'm in love with this car. Would do unspeakable things to be able to trade in my MK7 R and afford the M2. Cheers and thanks for the uploads :)

I test drove what might be ;-) ;-)my M2 last week and it was missing the Louise option, I will have to speak to my dealership about this, I'm very angry about this :-D It's because of Seb's video with you going to take your first look at your M2 that peaked my interest also seeing Tim(Shmee) driving one around on he's European tour has made me aware of this car. Lovely car, Joe! M135i or M235i is an amazing car for the money but this must be on another level when you really start pushing it Anyway, I'd love to to hear your thoughts about why you went for DCT instead of manual in the next video. I love 1M so manual would have been my choice though you can't beat the speed of DCT.

If the M2 isn't a real M car than I have no idea what a real M car is. I could care less about the mirrors or carbon fiber roof. Many legendary M cars didn't have those things either. Thanks for the video. I am still waiting for mine. Probably some time after August for me.

Nice review Joe 100% agree with you about m135i , I'm on my second one and off to motech for springs and spacers ! My next car will be an m2 (funds permitting) I drove m4 and m2 at brands , hands down the m2 is the better drivers car👍🏽

Can’t wait till I get my 2018 LBB M2. People said the 1M wasn’t a real M car, and now some consider it the best M car ever built.

Mine M2 is due in a couple of weeks....sapphire black with a few options. I've spec'd it as much as I could because I actually think it will do me for many many years (I will be replacing an F80 M3 Comp pack with it!) Just juggling exhaust options...did you ever consider any Joe? The Akra is proper dollar. Considering seeing if M3/M4 front seats fit as I love those....... Your M2 videos have been a big help in my choices and man maths :)

I currently have an M235i and I'm waiting for my M2 to arrive in November. I was going to do a comparison video but you've beat me to it haha! The only thing I would have liked are some upgraded seats (just set it apart from the M235i) not the big M3/4 seats as they wouldn't fit but some lighterweight ones, some Recaros or something or even just make them look a little more like race seats haha. Less weight overall would have been good but I still have a feeling a CSL or GTS version will be on it's way. Gonna make sure my names on the list early for that so I'm not waiting for over 12 months haha! Like you say it's all about how they drive and not what the paper stats say. Can't wait to drive it!

haha, it arrived, I can write all of the difference etc and my initial thoughts (only had it 2 weeks or so) but it'll take me ages to try and film something, never done that before... also I forgot to get any b roll of the M235i.

I have 2 questions, and i 'm sorry if you talk about these subjects in another vid but i haven't found it - What made you go with the automatic gearbox ? I always felt like you were really hesitant between auto and manual (just like i am ! I do drive an auto 118i, and i'm considering getting a manual 228i for the end of this year, but i'm always changing my mind about the gearbox). - Why are you keeping the m135i? Don't you feel like it's a duplicate kind of use? Again, thanks for your amazing work here, cheers !

+Halfmoon67 Good questions... I went DCT because its such an incredible box when rely pushing on, perfect for a M car... Also keeping my manual M135i means I have both boxes. I'm keeping the 1 as my "practical" car to transport my mountain bike etc... Cheers man

For me one of the greatest M cars ever. I like the simpler more back to basics of this M car over the M3/M4 less tech is a plus side with cars like this. Also one very tall loud person agrees JC

was that a standard exhaust? I've ordered an M2 due delivery in november been toying with M sport system but if thats standard i won't bother :) lovely note

13:10 actually i think bigger rims gives you less grip off the line, (for example drag cars wheels) and again i think the reason for that big rim thin profile tires less flexible than small rim thick profile tries and that give it less resistance to torque on the wheel

Does the manual gearbox make all those nice pops from the exhaust on downshifts like the dct does?
