BMW LS Swap WIRING Shenanigans - Pete's Draggin' Wagon PT 16

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Pete's Draggin' Wagon gets a wiring harness installed into the E39. This is a truck harness that I reworked to work with the LSA supercharger setup. I'm sure this video is not very exciting because there is no way to make a wiring video entertaining. There is definitely a lot of planning and understanding of wiring schematics to properly integrate a GM LS engine into a BMW E39 525it.

I noticed you removed a sensor on the side where the map was what sensor was that for ?

That is just a barometric pressure sensor that the cts-v uses. The gen 3 pcm that I’m using just uses the initial MAP reading at startup for the baro reading. If you notice that port doesn’t lead to the inside of the blower, it’s open to the outside.

Definitely babying it thought. I'm in the process of finding a rear section swap possibly range rover. Love the info im starting my second BMW swap myself

This car is a beast! I need to do an update video. I also need to upgrade the rear diff, axles, and subframe bushings. That’s my winter project. The torque from the lsa setup makes everything move around a lot in the rear end.

With everything you have learned doing this swap. How long do you think it would take to do another LS/4L80 swap into a wagon? ( No wiring or anything like that, just taking it the old motor and bam LS with Trans)

The physical act of swapping the engine and transmission could be done in a day or 2. It’s all of the little things that takes a ton of time. If I would’ve forked out the money for pre-made headers and mounts, I would’ve been done at least a month sooner.

Does the 4l80 require modification to fit in the tunnel? That's been my primary concern

@@Fosterforged yes I had to trim the ears off the bellhousing. I also had to cut out part of the double layer body panels in the transmission tunnel. I cover it in one of the earlier videos.
