BMW In The Bagger World. The 2022 R18 B Review

BMW has produced several different types of successful models but I only recently had the chance to ride their R18 B. It's very different from any other style that I've seen out of this long standing company. I rode this bike out of San Diego BMW Motorcycles. My first impression is that it's a great looking bike. I love the lines on this bike aesthetically. It's a bit heavy when you lift it off the kickstand but once you start rolling it's like any other bike in it's weight class. What's unlike other bikes is that when you twist the throttle, you get a side to side pull rather than a front to back. It just takes a little getting used to. With plenty of torque and overall power it's a fantastic bike to ride on the freeway and certainly made for long distance riding. I like that it's seat height is low enough so my feet can touch the ground without issue (my inseam is 29"), but it's big enough that you're easily visible to the vehicles around you. I don't like feeling small on the road. I think BMW has done a great job of creating a bagger that's nice looking, powerful and still comes across as a badass machine. I recommend you ride one for yourself if you're considering a bagger.

Man, I tested this motorcycle a few weeks ago and it tickled with my will for a Beggar. The model I tested was a little more on the sporty style, Reg paint in a beautiful dark metallic blue, and instead of the windshield it had just a very well designed wind defletor, very effective, because the seat is also a little lower. I think that here in Europe this custom bikes are growing their numbers on the road. I see it in events, people can gather 500 bikers on weekends to ride and party together. This occasions are increasing in time and we can see more of this beautiful machines around our towns. It’s adorable to acknowledge its presence. It’s Majestic! This Move of BMW is a bold one, considering the Competition in the USA but someone told me that their are very aggressive selling the bike considering cheaper for what it offers, than HD or INDIAN. Never rided this ones, but I`ll seek for it, as I was bitten by the Custom Bikes Bug😂👍
The R18 is a beautiful and magnificent piece of machinery

The Map feature needs more height on the screen, top to bottom, so you can adequately see what's ahead of you... System is totally dependent for navigation on your smart phone, and your smart maps from Google Maps. So your Bluetooth connection to your Android has to be good. It is also NOT a touch screen, got to use the daisy wheel on your left handlebar.
I didn't think I would move from Goldwing but this bike is gorgeous. My only concern is long distance riding and being beat to death before final destination.

You wouldn't be beat to death. The Harley guys would likely just give you a warning.

It's a pretty smooth ride but a Goldwing is pretty smooth as well. The last one I reviewed was very nice. Tough choice on either bike. Thanks for watching. Ride safely.

Let me know if you end up with one. I'd love to know what you think about it after a few weeks of riding it. I enjoyed it for the short time I had it.
Don’t understand why BMW didn’t go with inverted front forks on this. Otherwise it’s not a bad looking bike. Needs more bar and fairing options.
