    Seat Leon Cupra ST 4x4 2019 was what I ended up getting, ex demo 3000 miles and 24grand 7 months ago. I started looking at Bmw 340i as I know they are a nice quick car. Its just something about the look of the car which to me is boring, a bit like the Golf R Estate. Mr Achilles. Is Bmw 340i a lot better than the car I ended up with? I did want M3 but that was closer to 30 grand and 3 yrs old. I do have a e46 m3 for a bit of rear wheel drive fun so wanted to try 4wheel drive and its good fun too.

    Interested about what happens to the warranty if doing this to a 19 plate? Looking forward to the prices dropping equally on the F36 once the new one is out. Can argue the boot space with the hatch is almost as useful as a F31 for most applications.

    Have also got a silver F31 340i with the same seat protector in the back for the kids :) Mine is a 2016 version with over 60K on the clock now, with the last 10K being on a Bootmod3 stage 1 remap. Makes a big difference!! Was also thinking about a Remus axle back, but like you say in the video, the older ones are already louder than the later 2018/9 releases so have been holding back on that. Next upgrades for me, are brakes! Whilst the standard blue M-Performance brakes are good for day-2-day use, they are hopeless on a track day. Thinking of going down the EBC route as I've had a really good experience with them in a previous car. Thoughts of EBC on the BMW 340i please.

    Can’t get my head around wanting a noisy exhaust. Maybe I’m missing something? I had my D3 soundproofed, as the serenity at full chat is unreal as the AudioFile digitalised music just fills the cabin with clarity. Take from me that’s what I want to hear. But what do I know.

    Yup, if i had to drive around in a D3 i would surely want it soundproofed. And muffled. So you are right. A 340i needs a freed up exhaust. And the radio turned off. So everybody is right, depending on own situation. 😉

    I have to take issue with your comments about issues with speed bumps Joe. I had a 440i GC from TRL last March that was based on Tony's project car you reviewed. It had the M Sport factory carbon splitter and boot lip spoiler fitted by TRL and my journey home was via Motech to get the Stance pack fitted. The car looks great, and gets a lot of attention. However it is a bugger for grounding out. Speed humps, car park down ramps, any sort of sharp incline in the road, it catches. I end up driving like Miss Daisy over any kind of obstacle much to the annoyance of those behind me I'm sure. I know this is because of the splitter that protrudes a good 20 mm from the front of the car, but I'd think twice about having this fitted if you have a splitter on your car. instagram.com/p/BvRIeRvg2fX/?igshid=1en857j10t8jc

    It's interesting to see Remus was chosen for a back box and not the BMW M Performance silencer instead?!? The 'MPE' is an amazing axle back system with no warranty loss and full OEM looks. Granted it's no MPPSK but as this is a PPF car it cant be added anyway.. The MPE gives my F31 340i a fantastic gunfire sound with the odd loud CRACK when poked too. It's excellent. MPPSK is next on my list though. ;-)

  • @jamesmedlow

    @jamesmedlow

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@JoeAchilles1 No, The M Performance Exhaust (MPE) back box is different from the MPPSK system, and will fit Scotts lurvly F31. BMW offer 2 option exhaust systems for the 3/440i cars. 1. MPE 2. MPPSK The BMW M Performance Exhaust (MPE) will fit on pre and post PPF and is just an axle back system. That's what I have currently and it sounds epic while keeping it OEM and in warranty. The BMW MPPSK is the full valved cat back system with remap, the full bananas, but it cant be installed in post PPF cars. :-(

    @@MotechPerformance Thanks for the info, I was pretty sure the MPE was compatible but the MPPSK wasn't. The MPE is 'just' a back box so does not delete/change any OPF and requires no mapping, unless the physical pipework is different ??. But I'm happy to stand corrected by the experts. :-) I'm sure the car my 2nd hand MPE came from was post Jul 2018 too. In any case... Scott's F31 is a great example. Sounds like it should with the Remus and looks excellent in Glacier Silver. I'm local to you guys so keen to drop by and talk about the Eibach and spacer combination once this COVID-19 nightmare passes.

    Joe great video, but how do these mods affect warranty/ insurance? I don't seen to be able to do anything with my '19' plate F30. just had the hard wire for the BMW Dash Cam moved to my i3s. Cost me £1,298 just to have the wire swapped from the F30 to the i3s to protect the warranty. When I challenged BMW said they had to route them through the wiring loom as this is what customers expect to avoid any squeaks and rattles when installed. I did check that I wasn't wearing my clown's costume at the time. Surly any changes like exhausts must void the BMW warranty?

    I owned one of these in shadow black. If I am honest, not impressed with it. Heavy car, not as quick as the 335d Xdrive and I think was an overrated BMW. Using for the dog, no use really, it is not a car for a spaniel dog or Welsh roads or valleys. So I have a Subaru Legacy Blitzen on a 07 plate Estate JDM. Not only is the car better build quality, but it is rare, it is quicker, it has a lot of tech, such as sport+ modes and padel shifts etc, etc. Scoop on the bonnet says to BMW, "My scoop makes me quicker", you follow, haha. Very impressed with my old Subaru Legacy JDM, it is rare, looks good, can go offroad, can drive in snow, rain, etc, etc and actually you are not going to pull away in a BMW 340i and certainly not a 330d or 335d, yet at just 280BHP the Scubie just pulls and drives better. Newer cars are a bit overrated. What I did like about my shadow 340i touring was the HUD was brilliant, prof media too and it was a handsom car, just no good for a dog, wet, snow or any kind of slight offroad, countryside. So it is a towny car for shopping and small dogs that people carry in handbags and stuff like that.
