Great source for info , you mentioned in another video that bmw use one common wiring loom . Just got F21 2013 with base audio - no amp , no nav , no audio streaming. Going to add hk door mids and tweeters but wanted to ask if it's possible to install the hifi or hk amp .Should the wiring harness already be in place to take the amp ? Without the amp coding car to hifi should help with tweeter output for my base system?

Can you do it if you have the base audio system and not the hi-fi? Got a 116i F20 with the base speskers

The only issue is to use full potential of HK you need to have it plugged in to amp otherwise it’s just a minor tweak for the sound…

do you need to do any kind of coding or replacing of the amplifier if you have to absolute base audio system? or is it plug and play like in the video?

MASSIVE DIFFERENCE ! I did the whole retrofit on this car as it had the basic HIFI system inside, the sound difference is really really good compared to HIFI system and now sellers are selling it as a kit makes it so worth it and cheap.

they do not but you can crimp the cables together, the tweeters have capasitors to limit frequence mounted to the cables, I personally did buy the Harman ones

I have the hifi system in my f30. I am actually just interested in upgrading the tweeters to HK. Is it possible for me to do so? In my opinion the HiFi system is alright however I want a clearer sound.

I would go for midrange and tweeter and also disconnect central speaker. My F32 Hi-Fi system is upgraded with following: BMW PnP Vibe Optisound components on the front and HK midrange and tweeter on the rear. Kept Hi-Fi subs and amp with dash speaker disconnected.

Does anyone experience white/static noise from the tweeters as well?

Yes you will need to cut the hole for the tweeters in the rear door. There's posts on the forum about it :)

May sound like a really silly question, but will fitting harmon kardon to a BMW that doesn't have it sound the same as a car that comes with the harmon kardon option. I get it will sound better once installed but will it sound the same as a car that had it already?

No. The HK System has a different/better amp, with more channels feeding more speakers 🙂

Does f30 tweeter cover fit to f20 ? I cant find for f20 on my local store. If ı buy f30 cover, does it fit my f20? Thanks for answer fam

Looks interesting to try! I have F31 2015 EU-spec with standard audio (not even hi-fi). I expect this retrofit should work similar as you show on your car? Curious, if I would notice any difference in sound quality.

Have the same car, coming from a audi a6 with bose sound system just fristrates me. A question tough, cant drill a hole just on the side panel to add the tweeters? The cover alone costs more then 100 euros

Yes, I just installed the HK speakers + tweeters. And the sound is a lot better. I have a base audio F31. So no amp. In my opinion you only need an amp for the sub.

But the crossover for tweeter?

come with the tweeters (wrapped in cables)

Hmm. So the mids have the crossover built into them then for the output to the tweeter. Explains why they sound shite. No clarity there. Mids too low. Tweeter too tinnie. Honestly, dont waste your time. Get some proper speakers.
