    Thanks so much, @@AlexGray. I've replaced both banks of throttle actuators, battery, and alternator so-far. Otherwise just routine maintenance stuff. Was just at our local M geniuses for a suspected parasitic draw, but it turns out we just got a bad battery. Swapped it out and so-far, so-good. :)

    Looking to get one of these M6 or M5. Seems like if you keep up with preventative maintenance the car will love you back. The forums I’ve read on these cars are horrendous. But this video is gold

  • @AlexGray

    @AlexGray

    The forums are a scary place. I think the biggest thing is buying one from a private seller so that you can get a feel for how the owner treated the car and know about its history and maintenance, and knowing what needs to be done next. Making sure the owner was aware of properly warming up the car is huge. Some of these cars that come through dealers and barely have any service records on carfax are just risky because you’re really left in the dark on the history of the car.

    The previous owner had the clutch and smg hydraulic unit replaced at 80k. It’s still on that same clutch but I wrecked the car a few years ago and immediately had smg issues after that so I replaced the hydraulic unit and it has been great since. Other maintenance includes doing the bearings preventatively, all 10 ignition coils, the diff input shaft seal, and the brake pads/rotors. The rest has been regular fluid/filter/spark plug changes.

    Hi from Perth WA. Well I need your help mate, again!. I have owned a e92 M3 ess 625 man. 1 e90 M3 FBO dct , the usual stuff. 1 e 92 M3 FBO the usual stuff dct. 1 Audi rs4 B7 MTM supercharged ( see my review on Ross Reviews) 1 Lexus ISF FBO ( see the review on Ross Reviews, the blue one) finally ML 63 2007 NA tuned, very fast. NO M5 e60 yet 😢, so scared and worrying it will feel old. I would modify it, test pipes and tune, etc. Mate, should I get one? Will it feel faster and more special than the above once tuned and exhaust is done. I am aware of the SMG short coming but that’s taken in consideration. Prices are slowly creeping up here. Honestly I am Tempted to ISF again , such a great unique car. Anyway, sorry for the essay 😬just can’t decide. Cheers

    Hey man, looks like you are pretty familiar with high revving cars with lower low end torque so I think you would enjoy the V10. It’s a thrilling engine if you like to rev it out, very similar to the V8 in the m3 but noticeably more low end torque and a more special sound. Stock for stock the M5 felt quicker off the line due to having more torque than the m3. But the M5 is a lot heavier, so it depends if you want to sacrifice that weight for the v10 sound. They are beasts with full bolt ons but probably still wouldn’t compare to the supercharged e92 you had.

    @@dspada67Oh also I would 100% test drive one before you start looking too hard, you may hate the SMG since you’re coming from a DCT I assume. The DCT is such a good trans in the E9x and makes the smg feel extremely ancient. I don’t mind the smg but some people can’t stand it.

    Totally understand that, my recommendations is to get one from an individual (not a dealer) so that you can ask about its history and what’s been done. Also recommend getting an LCI model and just having a spare couple grand set aside specifically for the car just in case. But there are many people who have had a great ownership experience with these.

    I actually got an m5 e60 as well now ! What is so special with these injectors ? Why do they fail !!! ?

  • @AlexGray

    @AlexGray

    7 ай бұрын

    Congrats on the purchase! Failure rate is extremely rare, I don’t think I’ve ever actually heard of one failing on the E60, but over time I guess they can leak. I did see a failure post once on a E92 M3 and I’ve seen several on the F10 M5, they’ll stick open and hydrolock the engine. I occasionally use injector cleaner in the fuel. I try to do it once or twice a year. Whether or not it actually helps I’m not sure but it can’t hurt. Also I did recently see a post of someone successfully using S65 injectors on their S85 but had to run a tune for the different voltage/fuel delta percentage, etc

    Not too well, the center armrest had to be touched up by one of those leather repair people a few years ago which barely lasted a few months. Needs to be reupholstered to do it right. The armrest on the door is starting to look a little rough. The seat was looking great until recently I used chemical guys leather cleaner which opened up all the microscopic cracks and creases and now made them very noticeable.
