BMW E46 M3 Front Hub Replacement DIY (2001-2006 BMW M3 Front Wheel Bearing Replacement)
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
►The BMW E46 M3 uses a pair of bespoke front wheel hubs to support the front wheels and brakes through the most demanding conditions. The bearings inside the hubs are like any other and need a replacement after 80,000-100,000 miles. In some cases, wheel bearings can last longer than that, but that doesn't mean they're in reliable condition. Each hub uses a single bearing packed with grease. Over time, the bearings and their lubrication wear from heat and use, causing a need for replacement.
When a bearing goes bad, it'll likely tell you. The most common signs of a worn bearing are humming or howling at speed from the affected corner. Other symptoms include a vague steering feel, brake pad knock-back, and clunking over bumps. If any of those sound familiar, take a look at your hubs. You can check them by removing the wheel and brakes and rotating the hub. It should be tight and silent during rotation. Any excessive play or harsh noises are your sign for replacement.
Luckily, replacing your BMW M3's front hubs and bearings is a DIY job, especially with our replacement kit! Follow along as Mike Hidalgo, FCP Euro's Professional DIY'er tackles a front wheel hub replacement on an E46 BMW M3.

You guys are the gold standard for how DIY videos should be made. Excellent lighting, camera work, getting right to the point and using correct engineering terminology. Bravo.

Happy to be of help!
Would love to know the details on the two 2 jaw pullers used in the job. I maintain several track E46's and I'm looking for the best way to do wheel bearings. This video is it.
Great video Mike :)
An excellent video! I had no problem with the bearing but the inner dust seal in the OEM FAG bearing kit is 2.5mm too small in diameter to fit on the stub axle spigot (or the spigot is 2.5mm too large) and no amount of pressing or hammering will cope with stretching the circumference of the metal seal by over 8mm (pi x diameter) that would be necessary for it to fit there. I bought the car, a 2002 330i, from a BMW dealer when it was two years old and 18 years later, when I need to fit a new front bearing, I find evidence that it must have been replaced previously before the car was 2 years old and whoever did this also failed to get the dust seal fitted. This was not a DIY blunder as the first owner had the car serviced by a BMW garage. The FAG seal seems to be correctly dimensioned so could BMW have omitted the final cut and left the spigot 2.5mm larger than intended on my car, in which case it would have left the factory without a seal fitted? Although I had to clean off some rust that had formed on the unprotected spigot, the bearing has lasted 18 years which begs the question as to whether a seal is necessary.
Great video. All of your videos are perfect. If only you went one step further and did the knuckle... :(
Thank you guys so much for these videos. I have purchased 100's of parts from FCP and have always appreciated the great service. If I could make one suggestion, it would be this. Can you please identify the specialty tools used in the videos (E46 M3 if I am being jealous) like the puller size. A lot of us are comfortable doing all of the work, but we really want to know what puller size works for this application, so we can buy all the parts and add to our tool collection. I know this may seem rudimentary, but a lot of times it can be the difference between taking on a job or pushing it off!

Hi Reid, thanks for that! The part number is BMW 83300491905, we have both the Genuine and CTA option available.
Where do start looking for a no start no crank 2004 e46 m3 can help
No brake compression? My brakes are always always needing to be squeezed so I can take the caliper off.
I accidentally torqued mine to 308 ft pounds, used the torque spec from a xi model, should i be concerned about something? could this overtightening damage something?
Once again asking for B9 S4/S5/SQ5 content/maintenance items please!
