Great DIY video about replacing control arm the way most of us DIY guys do it, in our driveway with simple tool and a floor jack.

Nice job on the video. Thanks and that's a nice looking E46 mate. We never see the ZHP cars here in New Zealand so have to make do with regular models or M3s. Cheers.

Doing mine as I speak, a really good tip is use a 3-4lb hammer from harbor freight. a 16oz regular hammer does no justice. Also be prepared to spend at least half an hour for the driver side inner ball joint nut. A 21mm combination wrench with quarter turns takes a while. Recommend doing your sway bar bushings while your at it. It's right there just need a 13mm socket.

Helpful vid, think I'll do my own bushes and replace the lower control arms at the same time, looks like ~1 hour job with the right tools and no unforseen major probs!?

Thanks for posting this video, very helpful. I'm currently considering purchasing a ZHP E46 and was hoping you could provide any information or tips about owning one yourself. 1. How is the overall reliability and maintenance of the car when doing DIY repairs. 2. Can parts on a standard 330i such as control arms and suspension bushings be used on a ZHP or is it all bespoke for this car. 3. Could you provide the name of the retailer or the link of the website where you purchased these control arms from. Any additional info or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for the great video!

I also replaced mine almost 4 years ago but I still have the clunk sound whenever I back-up or move forward after car is parked. I replaced the bushings and I've asked many places why the noise is still there and they say it is a BMW issue with the suspension. Wish I could fix the problem. Any suggestions?

Mario Gonzalez had this issue too replaced the lower control arm bushings, drop links, drop link bushes and noise was still there!. I then decided to strip the front brakes and found the issue, the front pads that the previous owner fitted were cheap patent ones and where the pad clips into caliper, that clip was broken on one side and loose on the opposite side causing the inner pad to shift under braking/moving forward or backwards and clunk against the pad carrier, also where the pad fits on the carrier was a loose fit. Replaced front pads and all 4 caliper spring clips and haven't had a issue since

Motor mounts were replaced 1 month ago and the "clunk" sound still there. I will replace bushings again and use stock instead of polyurethane. Hopefully that will work
