Something a bit different from me this time... This is my 1998 prject car that I bought in February of 2023 as my daily driver. I was driving it for a few months but then it overheated and I lost one and only key that I had. Plan is to restore it to a really nice looking and mechanically sound example.
In this part I'm changing every lock on the car so I can start it and work on it futher in my garage.
Next episode will be workshop build and afther that few Porsche 924 videos then back to this BMW.
Stay Tuned!

Thanks! I agree!
Great work mate. Every e39 has to be saved as the evil EVs march on. Subscribed!

My E39 520i 5 speed manual Touring has become my classic 'drivers's' car and will be maintained at all costs, in the meantime I have to wait to get my i5 Touring (second hand in about 5 years time) to be my luxury daily driver (I have solar panels), my F11 523i 8 speed ZF auto, will remain my long distance Limousine, which will also be maintained at all costs. I would like another E30 320i 5 speed manual with no power steering and an i8 - but funds and space will prevent me getting those 2!
Big likes!!!

If this were my luck, I’d spend six hours replacing the entire key/locking hardware, then find the original key the next day. 😂

Great videos. What do you mean by HOME button and which LOCK button?

Thanks! I call home the one that looks like little house or arrow and lock is big one in the middle with lettering "lock" above it.
Do you need any sync with the dme or something, or just change this parts and it will work. Please help me because i have a e38 and have problems with ews and starting

Key needs to be coded to your ews. No need do mess with dme. If you need to change ews than you gotta buy ews and dme from the same car. Have you tried raplacing plastic ring around ignition barrel?

@@RestorationApprentice my car has no buttons on key and when i opened the ews, i saw some microsoldring work done. I dont know very well the car history, but whati found is that my car was once stolen. Then i dont know how they got away. I want to change the set like you did, because sometime when is hot it doesnt start at all.
Still working on the porsche?

Mislish sa autom? Cekam neki alat da mi stigne da mogu napraviti nove navoje na bloku motora.
Consider talking on video. It becomes very generic this way and less interesting.
