Just sharing my experience of front hood stuck. It may happen to anyone of BMW owner since this car about 20 years plus old. I am so sad but compare of this "ultimate driving machine" rides, no complaint.
.
There are a lot of method/approach to open up front hood depends on the cause of the components.
.
There are bunch of videos you can find in KZread. In my case, i need to take out front bumper and use flat screw driver to unscrew the hook to the latch. And, now i know why the design of hook is like that...genius !!!
.
So, just open up and replace with new one. The best is to replace all 3 cables.
.

yup...mines is UK spec. i didnt buy the hood latch....i just replace the cables...
