The biggest problem was to remove the rear axle, because of of the exhaust pipe of the m54 3.0i engine. But with a little help of some tools and a pare of cigarette's, work has been done in 2 hours.. :)

Nice chill music for an otherwise none too fun job. I still haven't done it myself but have the parts for my 530i. Looks like I should pick up a cheap press unit.

it's hard to remove bolts... but yes, you can remove bearings by not removing the shaft.

Weird question but have you ever found that placing the axle shaft/driveshaft into a New Hub was very hard ? I have to hammer mine in now and it feels wrong.

Maybe I bit cleaning and some grease will help? It should come easy, if it's not rusted.

We did it yesterday and it was a hell of a job to force the axle back into the hub. We cleaned it carefully before and used grease.

What size is the axle nut?
