BMW e38 Hydraulic Trunk System Replace !

In this video I will replace the complet hydraulic system on this special BMW e38 , the system that I will mount is a used one because new is impossible to find . I'm able to replace only the cylinder but if I will do that you wont see this amazing video :) and on top of that this system being in good condition I suspect that even the hydraulic pump si better that the one on the car .
The OEM Hydraulic oil is '' Aeroshell Fluid 41. '' You're Welcome !!
This is an 730d 2001 e38 short wheel base with a 3.0 diesel engine

730d with almost 750il options is very rare (rear vanity mirrors+tables only missing), lucky owner.

Great job!! Always amazing to see what is hidden behind the various panels in the trunk. You make taking things apart look so easy. Surprised to see it had a reverse camera setup; I will have to study parts of this video more as I am stalled with that project on my E38. Keep up the good work!!

@@MOvidiu hello, I changed the oil like half of the plastic reservoir. Strangely the trunk wont go open and close automatically. The motor works though. I couldn't get the motor out entirely due to the short hydraulic hoses. So to put back the reservoir with the new oil I had to put it a bit sideways so it lost a little oil

I purchased 2 pumps on ebay, and neither can open the trunk. They must be both defective...no more pumps on ebay. Any way to fix that pump? The two I got, they just don't have enough power. They can open the trunk if i open it partially with my hand, but they can't lift it at all if the trunk is down all the way.

Crazy design to have the ram (cylinder) on the opposite side form the pump. Only BMW would do something this complicated. Also could you not replace just the ram by removing the high pressure lines? It looks like one of them has the fitting. Does the other one?

Hi ovidiu, im planing to retrofit FRM2 to a 2006 car E91 320D I’ve got the module it’s from a 2008 pre LCI but it has no panoramic roof and no adaptive headlights. My question is does those options will work after coding or i need exact same FRM2 module options?

Hello ! only one cylinder on the left ( all BMW hydraulic trunk opener have only one cylinder )

It seems silly that they put the pump and the hydraulic cylinder on opposite sides - just look at the disassembly on the left side 🫣 - they should have put both the pump and the cylinder on the right IMO.

Not quite ! the reason is for the weight balance of the car ! on the right rear you have the battery the hydraulic pump , on the left front you have the steering box the steering column ...and the driver itself ... and above all you didn't have a place in the rear left because of the Navigation modules :)
