Hello. Few days ago I did the wiring, just like in the video. My ECU started smoking when I switched the Ignition, some wires melted as well. What could be wrong? Thanks.

I’m guessing this is the same for 1jz engines?

From personal experience, DO NOT USE SOLDER SLEEVES FOR ENGINE HARNESS WIRING I discovered them when I was wiring the M54 up in my E30 After about 6 months of daily driving, gremlins started to appear.. Long story short the motor would die and lose spark at any given point without any traceable pattern or circumstance.. I cut all of those sleeves out and redid the harness, not a single issue since.

will this black locking connector be modified to fit an e36? apparently there are 2 connectors inside?

Well I dont know how your car started but the wiring should be wrong. Pin 2 on X60004 connector is emty, Pin 25 on x20 is alternator signal, Pin 3 on X60004 is Signal Secondary Air Pump Relay and on X20 connector Pin 18 its starter. Pin 10, 17, 22, 26, 32 is from X60004 connector, the rest is from other engine loom 12pin connector.

Hey thank you so much for the comment I hope this also helps a lot of people out. I done the wiring, made sure the car works stripped it all and done it again but recorded it it’s odd because I’ve had a look at the x20 pins going into the chassis and some pins seem to be in different places then other people I think it may be something to do with the alarm system that got fitted on by the person who had it before me but I’m not to sure on that one. Just out of curiosity are you running the m52 m52tu or m54 👍

@@richardharinga1774 thats depending on what engine wiring loom you have. You might have 2pcs 8pin, or one 8pin and one 4pin connector. Look for big black wire- that will be signal to the starter
