@Alvin L: at 0:42 of this video, though you mentioned that you've already hit "Prog ZB/UPdate" and that you simply won't do it again. I got to this point on my progress, but there is a dialogue which popped up after I hit the program button, it asks something like "this ECU can be programmed only 1 time, do you want to continue?" My question to you is, does that dialogue mean that the donor ECU I put in here can only be programmed to the receiver car only once? I'm asking because I'm trying to diagnose whether if my receiver car's ECU is bad or not. And to do this, I plan to try it with the donor's ECU by changing the VIN and align the VIN between the FRM, EWS, and CAS. And in the end, I'll need to give the donor ECU back and set that VIN back to what the donor ECU's VIN was supposed to be. So, can I put a VIN on a Donor ECU, then put the original donor VIN back again?

By the way what do you mean enter in with checksum from ncs expert so you can't enter your vehicle vin manually it'll not be ok ?

Is there a problem if vin is not matching with the car?

Hi Alvin. thank you for the video. I have been bating to code R50 2002 mini cooper vin and mileage. I see you got R50 and the rest of the minis in INPA, how did you that. Can't find how to do it, but managed to add R50, R56 to winkfp and Ediabas but not INPA itself. Any help please, also what file to use to change vin for R50, sorry I am new in using these> Thank very much in advance!😊

It came with the software package I downloaded around the time I made the video. You might be able to find it on mini specific forums.

Have this problem w istap error 10007 cip..initialization fault w ediabas help.....

I assume the module will retain its current parameters after the update e.g lights and door locks etc? I dont want to do it and find the car goes haywire!

The new module will have to be coded to your vehicle for it to work properly. It only affects the module that you are swapping in so FRM shouldn't affect the door locks.

Hey nice vid thanks, I'm about to upgrade my frmfa to frm3 max brose in my 2005 e90 320d, because of lci tail lights retrofit and future xenon retrofit, but I'm not sure if I can flash my frm module via K+DCAN cable , is it possible or do I need an ICOM ?

It shows up when you connect to your car. Just write it down. I only changed it because the module was from another car and vin.

@@me4I2 thanks for your reply, I also changed from another car and vin but now car does not start, there is a message mentioning security tampering code, that is I was interested on what you did. so once I connect it to the car the checksum digit will appear? or I will need to pull it out from somewhere?

I would assume so, but you should probably do some research and confirm with people who have done this successfully on their e60. I'm sure there are write ups on e60 specific forums.

No. This was performed on an FRM module not a CAS module. Updating the CAS is doable but highly discouraged unless you have all of the right tools and a suitable power supply to ensure the car does not lose power. Unless there is something wrong with the car, it's better to leave the car as is since there is a risk of bricking the module.

For example, to disable the ELV error? In 2 times my battery was dead, I replace battery but i have the red steering wheel..

If you have the ELV error, you probably need to replace your steering column since the lock is sticking. I had my steering column replaced under warranty when I ran into this issue a couple years ago and I believe the dealer also updated the module to disable the lock. I would try an independent shop to see if they have the tools to update your module. If it the update solves the problem, it's a lot better than spending over $500 to replace the steering column.

@@jamerylpow912 did you make sure all connections are tight and the module is functional? I think going to frm3 is more involved and you have to have the correct version. Are you able to code anything else or do you always get the 0009 error? If you are not, maybe your configuration files were not properly installed.

Alvin L im not sure, only tried the frm. Maybe files not properly as You said, but I dont know. Could u help me to check the files and configuration? By teamviewer, Skype Or discord Or something. And i heard this wont work with k+dcan, I need icom, is this right or not?

Sroor9001 It's 0 isn't it? Read VIN using NCS and the extra character at the end of the VIN is what youl need I guess
