You should get BlackVue front and rear dash cam for proof and protection.

Try a transmission oil change where you change the oil pan ect. This is an expensive maintenance when you do at a dealer. It ould be dope to be able to do it at home.

Holy Crap... I had 328i since 2014 and traded that to a 340i in 2017 which I still have. I just saw this video and ran to the garage to check. I HAD NO CLUE THAT THERE WAS A 12V POWER OUTLET DOWN THERE! nearly 6 years of F30 ownership! Damn... I guess I should really start reading the owner's manuals.

If you have a bad smell it could also be bacteria/mold in the vents..

10mm socket wrench and T20 screw driver are all you need.

Other thing to add is use a vacuum with a narrow fitting and suck out all the other crap in there with the fan on before the install.

i was just gonna do this my ac has gotten weak even though i had it re-charged.

Is your climate control manual or automatic? I'm not clear on mine based on your description, but it looks like yours.

You skipped the most important part. Removing the part that secures the filter. You just said it was difficult and mentioned something about pulling on two tabs. I'm at that part of the job now and I can't get the cover off.

What filter did you use it?

AC stinks because you have it set to A "automatic". I started using "M" or just left it off, pulling in outside air and the smell went away after a few days. Been fresh since!

Anyone know if this is a similar install to a '17 M2?

Isn't the filter under a gasket in the hood?

Although many places don't bother to change the microfilter, yours is just dirty enough to change. Ones that haven't been changed for years are way worse with tons of mold, dust, bugs and leaves, completely black.

Probably wasn't changed ever. Most don't even know their car has a cabin filter.

Daaaamn my 2011 535i had 19k when I got it and has 31k now, and I want to buy a daily to keep miles off bc I think that's high 🤣

@@ShumileSwift did you get the car new? If not who knows who installed the one you pulled out. Someone probably did it at 30k when they did the first engine filter change. Then now you're doing it at 85k and it looks dirty.

The safest way to check is to see which side had the most dirt when you took it out. The arrow should point AWAY from the dirty side because that is the way the air is flowing (air comes through, dirt stays on the side of the filter where the airflow started). When I replaced mine, that was with the arrow pointing towards the engine/front of the car as this video showed, and was how the filter was installed on the one I removed. The arrow is an indication of airflow.

Because a system low on refrigerant will give output temp below what it normally should before it finally looses cooling

My filter was pointing towards the inside of the vehicle, so that's the direction I had it point when I installed the new filter

The arrow is supposed to point towards the back, at the passenger seat.

waste of my time my filters not even there

Clean your engine bay. That's where 99.9% of the smells usually come from. All 20 of my friends had odors on their BMWs I cleaned my engine bay after replacing the filters and guess what? The smells are gone. It's due to the years of nasty that clings on your engine bay. Cover your alternator and electrical parts and you should be good.

Fyi My cars ac also became cooler
