The CSL is in my top 5 for favorite race cars. When I saw one at the BMW Museum I stared at it for a good 20 minutes.

Yes, that car is very gorgeous in real life and those rear tires, they are wide. I saw it a week ago in BMW museum too. The video that was shown on the wall gave me goosebumps.

I just bought my first 1973 BMW E9 3.0 today. I’ve waited decades for one. After seeing and hearing this video...I’m going wide body and open headers with the side exhaust. The sound is absolutely insane and look, stance and aerodynamics of this car are just wicked. This is when BMW was BMW....not what they put out today.

I'm an old guy, and got, a part-time gig a few years ago at an auto parts store. Worked there for a year...but it was time to move on. My co-workers, twenty- somethings, asked me what my favorite Batmobile was...I googled images and you-tubed and showed them this...A Serious. Real. Batmobile. I have seen it race. And have had it blast past me at Daytona. Glorious. The youngsters just walked away...pity...

Never was boring from start to end even as for one second. Great car and driver.

This is why I love old cars because they are so raw, bare bones and basic. New cars are so soulless and fake all because of the computer and drivers aid and the safety equipment. New cars will never come close to the passion and the rawness that older performance cars offered. That's why the BMW 3.0 CSL is a good example of a car with an intoxicating driving experience. It is just you and the beast and nothing assisting you. Man and machine and what do you get back. The most visceral driving experience and the most orgasmic soundtrack known to man. I am 16 and love cars with a passion that is hard to describe.

When they ran the 24 hours of Daytona, you did not even have to look to know where they were. Their engine sound was so unique. Not like any other car on the track.

that shifter is so satisfying, he just has to nudge it towards his desired gear then the trans pulls it right in with a nice thunk.

400HP my dad raced these when I was a kid. You would think it had more but around 400HP is what they made. Plenty for the 70’s and for how light the car is. The L in CSL is for lightweight.

Brian muir raced one in british touring cars / group 2 ... early 70's. Sca camaro /frank gardner whooped it though.
