Thanks for this video! I wasn't sure what was the cause for this dirty look on the plastic, for a moment I thought it might some mold from the ventilation. Now it looks certainly like some kind of UV coating. Surely I'm going to try this out!

I think I may try to just wrap mine with vinyl wrap. I read of guys doing that. Other than that, I might use a white eraser to try to sand them down and then try cerekote or something.

This is a problem for all 1st gen 1 series. Also, the author says it's for E82/E87 - yes and no - all 1ers have the same dashboard and trim, therefore this video relates to E81 (3 door) and E88 (cabrio) as well.

you can take them out sand with fine grit and spray matt black paint

Just replace the vent, why go through all this trouble?

Well 2 points really. Firstly it's far cheaper to do this for those who can't afford to change the vents. Secondly if you change the vents it's only a matter of time before they look the same and then you would have to change them again
