The Rabbi is my favorite track on the album besides St. Charles and I lucked into it by grabbing the US deluxe. Not sure why they decided like 75% of the base album needed to sound so homogenous.

Not putting this on the full length album was their first mistake

One of Blurs best songs in a long time imo.

Note the lyric “talking to the ghosts / the ones that want you dead / are the ones you love the most” and compare to “Tender”: “tender is the ghost, the ghost i love the most”. Damon and graham singing of loss, absent people, ended relationships. Lyrically this feels like a sibling to “You’re So Great” and “Tender”

I agree with what you typed.

Ballad of Darren was okay. This song is okay too. I'm a huge Blur fan but this latest stuff is just not as exciting as all their previous work.

Coxon is Blur's MVP. Yet 'The Narcissist' is the album's only great track because this one wasn't on there.. make it make sense

I think Coxon let Albarn own the album. Coxon's in happier times with Rose in Waeve, while Albarn is possibly going through a breakup(?). But yeah, this songs so well written and structured, and would be a nice addition to the b-side of the album.

@@aj_rod yes, but i think prime moments are longer when we see albarn`s writing, for example, in my opinion the best song in blur is death of a party, and in 13 is caramel, as well in magic whip could be pyongyang or lonesome street, and dont forget under the westway, coxon is a great composer too, i love youre so great, but its like the clash, mick jones wrote the hits (should i stay and train in vain) but strummer wrote the thick and power tracks
