Trauma Car Audio is a relatively new brand with amp designed by Amp Medics. It's really cool to have the input of a repair technician with an amp's design as they know the weak points of amplifiers repairing them day in and day out. Today we take a look at the TCS-2000.1d, the middle of the road amp in the new Trauma lineup. Amp is rated to deliver:
800 watts at 4 ohms, 12.6VDC
1200 watts at 2 ohms, 12.6VDC
2000 watts at 1 ohm, 12.6VDC
Let's take a closer look at this amp and see how it performs on the Amp Dyno!

With most of the new factory oem audio systems having feature sets that basically negate the need for an aftermarket head unit, these bluetooth amps are filling a niche that's only going to grow. Not to mention being perfect for classic cars that really dont have much space for traditional cd/dmr headunits. power it up, connect your phone, and bump away!

I'm glad you tested the TRAUMA! Steve from AMPMEDICS is a good man and great to do business with. He's done amp repair for me before the release of his brand, and I'd recommend his craftsmanship to anyone interested. Thanks Big D Wiz for testing this amp. Steve is very deserving and not to mention this is a small step for the little guy and a giant step for amp kind!

Never stop the sub videos! I actually went back to this one out of curiosity, and what I love is seeing the dampening of the amp. Just because it can send out high wattage of garbage doesn't mean it can control the subs for nice tight bass like rock or Country. And I don't want to tear up the subs bottoming out or over extending because the amp can't control the subs. Plus, when you use more than one sub, like 4, we can see if it can handle more than one sub and get them stopped. Thank you and love your videos. Question, can I send in a POS of an amp for testing? It was my father's, and he liked it. It's a small 5 channel flee market amp, but does okay. Wanted to have it tested and see if it's worth it to put in our Ranger.

Hey Big D, picked one of these up based in your video. I really liked that the amp was rated at 12.6v for power output, seems like the better deal when looking at any amps. DC, sundown etc. are just as much if not more but rate their power at 14.4v so you really do get more power with something like this instead. Anyway, when I got mine delivered it was in pristine condition. No scratches or bent feet or anything of the like. I did notice that the back doesn’t have a tamper evident sticker on it saying void if broken which is nice for if you want to look at the guys yourself or, like I want to do, switch out for a plexiglass backplate. Thanks for the awesome content.

I'm not familiar with BT amps at all? Also, I know you said it has full-range outputs for when you do connect to it using BT but how exactly does that work? Are ALL channels amplified, does the sub channel stay subsonic, are only certain channels full-range, etc..etc...etc...?

They emailed me back the next morning and told me not to worry about a thing, to box it up and send it in and they would expedite the repair and get it back in service as quickly as possible. Looking at other amplifiers in this price range, a 2 year warranty is practically unheard of. Glad I chose the Trauma when I was going to shell out that kinda cash.

@ReDmAn -74 IMO you're kinda being hard on the guy for no reason. He said nothing about amps putting out there claimed numbers. While yea you're right to some extent, big d tests amps so you can see the actual watts per dollar you're getting, he also hooks up subs so you can see for yourself if it indeed "bumps" or has good sound quality also opens them up and explains if they're using crappy internals which impacts reliability. So I actually agree with him. I would rather buy something tested and proven regardless if it puts out its claimed numbers, then buying something and finding out for yourself its a piece of crap and in a week you have to buy another one..

I bought two more Sundown Audio SA12D2s for a total of four in a custom made sealed box in the trunk of my Accord on an Orion HCCA 3K amp (the same one that you tested) and it POUNDS. I'd love to put a DB meter in my car to see what they're putting out.

I Enjoy the amp test you do.. the truly old school for me is what I most enjoy.. any chance of testing a Nakamichi PA 300II from like 1985 era? Also, when you do a test of some high power monster amp .. would you consider a power output test with 10ft of speaker cable connected.. not the really big gauge either... then do the test with your normal speaker run? Be cool to see the loss in 10 ft then in 15 .. just always wondered Take care.. thanks for all the work you do!

@@wal This is something I've often wondered myself. We're seeing lots and lots of amps that are making gobs of power for a relatively low price. What separates the run of the mill build house board amps from amps built from more well-known companies, like JL Audio, RF, Kicker, etc? And does it even matter from a sound quality standpoint? I keep hearing the phrase "real watts" when people talk about the difference between class D and A/B. Does s/n ratio, damping factor, and other lesser known specs make much of a difference in a car environment?

And if I remember right the Orion actually put out more watts than this amp? Now I'm wondering should I get one of these? Nah! The Orion is still amazing me with it's power potential that I actually don't even use it all cause if I did, I don't think my hearing could take much more lol anyhow thanks for another smashing video/test, as long as you put out these videos I'll be here!

I like the raised feet design, but really you should add some cheap rubber speaker feet to any car amplifier install to help air circulate underneath the amplifier. Won't cost you much at all, anything to help improve airflow and heat dissipation for your amplifier. Heat is an amplifiers number 1 enemy!

What up Big D? I been collecting MTX equipment for a lil while and have quite a few amps now. The older U.S. made stuff. One of my nicest amplifier's is a 1999 model Blue Thunder Pro 500xd still with all its original packaging, papers, manual, Blue thunder hat, and the amp was still sealed in its plastic bag when i bought it. I opened the plastic because i wanted to be sure that it works. I played it for about ten minutes and put it back in its box where its stayed for about a year and 1/2 now. Its spotless clean. Just like if i could got to Circuit City in 1999-2000 again and buy one brand new. It was MTX's second year with a class D amplifier on the market. This amp is rare to find period much less to find it NOS like this. Do you know the Amp? Test sheet say's 703 watts @ 2ohm x 1. Rated 500 x 1 @ 2OHM. Rated 250 x 1 @ 4ohm but sheet say's 426 watts I think. I'll have to look again to be sure about 426 but think i remember rite. I'm thinking i might start selling some of this equipment. This is hard to find and super nice and powerful. Do you think you might be interested in the amp if i sale it. There's a slim chance you'll see another 500xd soon if ever ,that's still new but Old School too. I also have a very nice looking and amazing sounding 4320(black&red). Of course it only had 2 mounting feet when i bought it. The weakest point in these amps. They break too easy. Got a couple 280's ( black&red) with packaging and one with papers. Both of those little amps look very well taken care of too. Lots of other amps too.

Great review D. Question. How would you set the amp gain? What would you be matching it to? The input signal from the Bluetooth? Does it amplify the Bluetooth signal to a certain preset voltage that you can match with the gain control or what? 🤔

  • @wal

    @wal

    4 жыл бұрын

You can set the gains the same way you do with a head unit, but using your phone instead. I actually had to back down the gain when my phone was connected as the BT signal was hotter than the HU. Watch all the way until the end as I show an Amp Dyno run using the phone as the source with NO head unit. First time I’ve been able to do this...

Hi, I want to build a portable speaker. But the ones out there just haven't got enough bass. Could you help me select some speakers and amps as I don't have too much experience? I need a sub, a midrange speaker and something to drive them. Preferably with Bluetooth. And I kind of want it to stay under 150€. If possible 100€, as I don't have a big budget. I already have the battery sorted out. I looked at that 25€ ebay amp. Do you think it would be good enough? and how would I be able to implement bluetooth and a midrange speaker into the system? Could you help? Edit: I already looked at the Nobsound NS-14G. And for the speakers I found the Dynavox 165mm sub and the McGee wideband 100mm. Do you think that would be ok, or do you have any other suggestions? The amp is a bit expensive though. Do you know any cheaper alternatives with similar specs?
