With his insane harmonica skills you almost forget what an incredible singer he is, and he can STILL sing like that all these years later...

The rabbit trail that led me here: Wifey and I were watching the history or England on Netflix when there was mention of Ann Boleyn. So it triggered my memory of this song lyrics. So I played it for my wife who apparently somehow does not remember hearing this song. Age gap perhaps 😜 (9.5yrs) Next day I played it for my 14 year old daughter who is an aspiring musician who is really advancing in her reading sheet music and piano skills. So now this song is well stuck in my head, so I listened to it again at work this morning, which prompted me to find any remixes, which led me here. Mind you I am a 46 year old who listens to Dubstep and bass music and electronica who goes to at least 2 EDM music festivals per year. Hearing songs like this reminds me to jump outside of my box from time to time.

The irony of the song is that everytime I listen to it I want it to have an inner truth or vast reflection... Nice hearing from you!

I have been lucky enough to see Blues Traveler 2x in concert. The first time was back in November1997 at Northrop Auditorium at the U of Minnesota and it's one of my most memorable concerts to this day. John Popper was sick as a dog that day, but refused to cancel the show. I was absolutely exhausted myself (taking full time classes, but also working as a bouncer 6 nights a week), but Blues Traveler played such an amazing show, it pulled me thru just as much as John Popper said the crowd's energy pulled him thru. The second time i saw them was in April 2013 after a Nats game in DC. It was the last concert I saw with my girlfriend before she passed away from cancer. I've seen thousands of live bands play, and forgotten almost all of them, but I still remember both Blues Traveler concerts to this day. I just wanted to say thank you to Blues Traveler. P.S. You have tons of great songs, but Hook always has a special place in my heart.

John Popper trolling reaction channels from way back before they existed. Love watching the swing and miss with the most honest lyric's ever sang right in front of them. Man is a genius. Thank you for this classic with legs.

This song plays probably 100 times a month in my house. It's one of my favorites mainly because of my honeymoon. My husband and I our best friends so for our honeymoon we road tripped (easy way to travel but stay away from people because of covid) and this some how became our song. Listening to it puts me right back in that moment of smoking pot in our car Black Jack in a Vegas parking garage while belting out 'Hook'. That my friends is how you fall in love. 💖 May not be your traditional love song but its ours. Lol

"This song plays probably 100 times a month." So you proved them right. I mean, yeah, it's a good song, I don't disagree, but you did the exact thing they said you would. The Hook brought you back. Bet you didn't think of that, did you?

This has to be one of the best songs ever written. The thought of the chord progression, the carefully crafted lyrics, the vocal solo (let's be real, that's what it is) just work in tandem so well. This has been my happy song for 20+ years, and that irony I find hilarious.

The chord progression is literally Canon in D. Granted this is one of the best ways its been used because of the lyrics and the use of dissenfected irony.

I mean, considering that this ballsy song is a massive fuck you to the recording industry, that in itself makes this an awesome song. He tells it like it is. John Popper is a genius, through and through.

Thank you for these. As a young man, I collected your CDs from the start and loved them all (Travelers and Thieves is my favorite). I was lucky enough to see you at HORDE with Dave Matthews and Barenaked, even managed to almost break my neck catching a harmonica. Just wanted to say thank you for getting me through a lonely life with a lot of medical trials which are slowly closing in on me.

I remember watching a small jam band, Blues traveler play at places like the Variety Playhouse in little five points back when I was in high school. Must of been '92. Awesome fun. In ways I feel that this song, that popularity killed off a awesome band. But for some reason I come back to this song...

Its just fresher recording? Something feels off slightly... the original was a masterpiece. Im so happy i grew up when i did (for music, not for surviving on a functional planet lol) we were so spiled and we didnt know it. I look/listen back down and therenis a touch of sadness hanging from my nostalgia beyond he typical(wish we coild go back) caise it feels like its getting harder for REAL music to matter.
