Bluegrass Bonus Footage! Billy Strings, Bela Fleck, and some Alabama hillbilly…

Музыка

Here’s a little footage just for fun. I love playing this 1933 Gibson L-00 every time I visit Leipers Fork. It lives out there at the art gallery and it’s a fine guitar. Not for sale! Bummer.
The rest is Bela and Billy and Billy and his badass band. Lots of B’s in this post. Billy brought Bela out to open up his second set solo. Pretty damn cool!

Guthrie so curious about your perspective on Billy and his playing! He seems to be lighting up in the modern day bluegrass realm and it'd be fun to hear you talk about him and how you enjoyed the show :)

This was cool. I used to see Bela and the Flecktones all the time in the 90's. I remember seeing them one time with and they brought out John Scofiled as a guest. It got trippy

Yeah... I saw Bela with New Grass Revival in '85. He and (especially for me) Pat Flynn were mind blowing. Even for me at 8 years old. I love Bluegrass. Legends.

Man that $250 sideman pay for a touring act is insane to me. Here in/around Chicago you can make more than that playing in a pickup wedding band. I think BWK pays $300 (and that’s the low end).

How do you solo with the caged system? do you use triads and then arpeggiate the chords ? Or do the chords tell you what scale you're in?
