Just heard from locals that May is a good time to go for blues and stripers off the old pier at Cape Henlopen which just reopened last year after taking a couple years to get rebuilt (Sandy had done in what was left of the old one). I have a medium-heavy action rod fitted with 25# braid. Figuring on half-ounce jigs or topwater lures.

Great video but if you are going to release those blues you may want to remove the trebles and replace with a siwash for the rear hook. You don't need the front hook. Bluefish attack from the rear and the front hook will only get your fingers while you are trying to unhook them. Great video and thanks for posting.

Michael Gillespie I typically chose lighter gear, this day I was using a 6'6 st croix avid which throws up to 5/8ths of an oz, paired with a shimano sustain 4000 and 30lb braid. Thats my all around go to rod for fishing inshore jetties/beaches/bays with smaller plugs and jigs, the st croix avids are awesome rods

I need to say this, here as most else where I do not understand the need to almostg horse in the fish,, you have plenty of room, let the fish more around while of course always keeping pressure but this is wrong , and I see it in many videos,, who taught these people to horse in the damn fish, it takes the fun out of the fight so , when I get a fish in that setting I have a less aggressive approach, I fight the fish and I get it in but I do not horse it in like on a party boat where you have to lest you snag the other guys lines, but this is just you the fish and the entire beach, I would , judt for the fun of it let the fish run 100ft to the left right or any which way, I suggest you try it and might find you have more fun than the extreme urgency to get the fight over with,, enjoy the battle take the time to smell the proverbial roses

Dont like people using treble hooks on fish, no sport, I use ONE single hook with no barb. Giving the fish a good chance to escape. More sport and feels better to give the fish a sporting chance. It takes a litte more finess to land the fish. So all you guys skip the treble and be a humble gentleman.
