Bluebell Railway - Diamond Jubilee Event - Part 2

In part 2 we continue our journey along the Bluebell Railway from Horsted Keynes to East Grinstead, crossing the impressive Imberhorne viaduct. After our locomotive has run round its train we set off on the return leg towards Sheffield Park, stopping off at Kingscote to watch trains coming and going at this beautifully restored station. We board another Sheffield Park bound train as far as Horsted Keynes where we enjoy a ride in the Queen Mary Brake Van with Class 09 diesel No.D4106 visiting all 5 platforms at Horsted Keynes. Next we board the GNR Director’s Saloon from where we can watch our locomotive from a unique vantage point for the run back to Sheffield Park where we watch the final trains of the day.
Locomotives featured on the day - SER Stirling 01-class 0-6-0 No.65, SR Maunsell Q-class 0-6-0 No.30541, South Eastern & Chatham Railway H-class 0-4-4T No.263, BR Standard Tank Class 4MT 2-6-4T No.80151, Class 09 diesel shunting locomotive No.D4106/09018, Sentinel 4-w Diesel-Hydraulic loco No.10241. Track gauge of 1,435 mm (4 ft 8+1⁄2 in)

Hi, I love reading about your days working for Indian Railways. I hope you are as happy in your retirement as you were working for the Railways. I had intended to join an Indian rail tour, including the Shimla line, but for now Covid it is likely to cause it to be cancelled, hopefully I can do it next year - www.railwaytouring.net/golden-triangle-with-shimla-3-21 The tour included steam on the main line and on the Shimla railway. Take care and stay safe. Tim.

Hi, this railway is in my home country, England. We are very fortunate to have a good number of excellent heritage railways, many of which I haven't visited for a while because I usually spend a lot of time travelling to places like New Zealand, Australia and all over Europe. Covid has stopped me from travelling and now Britain is opening up again as a result of a successful vaccination program I'm taking the opportunity to see local attractions such as the Bluebell Railway.

Hi, the people at the Bluebell Railway do a first class job in recreating the past, the stations often appear in British crime and detective series on TV although the names are changed, the filming helps towards the cost of keeping the railway looking good. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Preserving the railway along with the locomotives and carriages is helped by an apprenticeship scheme aimed at passing the skills required to keep everything in working order on the the next generation so that the railway will continue running for many years to come. Museums are OK, but real working museums are to best way to see and experience the world our forefathers grew up in.

I'm just packing ready to go to Devon with my wife for 9 days, I've book a B&B with balcony overlooking the railway at Dawlish, whilst I'm in the area I hope to visit the South Devon Railway and the West Somerset Railway, if the weather is nice one day it would be nice to do a Round Robin Trip - Totnes to Paignton in a vintage open top bus, steam train to Kingswear for the ferry to Dartmouth followed by a river boat back to Totnes, when the weather is good, it's nice way to spend a day. My other half likes to visit the pretty villages and walk the coastal paths, it's her holiday as much as mine, besides, who doesn't love a genuine cream tea in a picturesque village cafe?

Pretty much everything west of Kansas (which Americans pronounce incorrectly btw) is breathtaking, because every state has big mountains, forests, rivers and lakes.
