Blueair Dust Magnet Review - 6 Months Later

Ғылым және технология

Dusting sucks. The Blueair Dust Magnet, a WiFi-enabled air purifier, promises to help reduce the amount of dusting you need to do, but does it actually work? And how much dust can this thing actually suck up from the air? We'll take you through our experience with the with the Dust Magnet after 6 months, how much less dusting we've needed to do and overall if we think the device is worth getting.
We'll also walk you through the Blueair mobile app, show you how it can connect to Alexa to smart home control, how long the filters in the Dust magnet are supposed to list, how to clean the pre-filters, things to keep in mind when placing your air purifier around the room and how the built-in particle sensors can help ramp up and down the fan as the air in your home changes.

    Thanks for reviewing this product. The meaningful question IMO is how much more dust this removes than a more standard air purifier like Winix 5500-2 , Coway Mighty, Levoit Core models, or even the other Blueair Pure models. As you pointed out that furniture not immediately next to the device didn't experience much removal which makes me wonder if this is effectively a gimmick that doesn't really matter that much in the long run over a more cost effective air purifier like the other ones mentioned

    If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. kzread.infoUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!

    There may not be enough air flow in your room. An air purifier won't necessarily wipe the dust already settled in your room. It can only pull out the dust present in the air. I see air purifiers as a tool that can greatly reduce the amount of dust accumulating, but you may still need to wipe dust off in your room, just less occasionally. Personally, the air purifier I use, when combined with a separate, strong fan that circulates air in the room, almost completely eliminates all dust in my room. I haven't had to dust my desk or shelves off in over a year now, when previously I had to dust every week.

    Great review! Thank you for the info. I just bought one. I can't seem to figure out how the filters are supposed to be inserted. I noticed that you installed the top one with the arrow pointing up and the bottom filter with the arrow pointing down. However, on Blueair's website it says to install them with both arrows pointing up. Are you certain that you installed them the right way? Thank you so much for your help!

  • @akheng

    Been trying to figure it out too, and i think both may be wrong. Including Blueair's website. My theory is that if both top and bottom are inlets (side: outlets), the white part of the filter should be facing the direction of the inlets. With the black part (honeycomb) on the inside. So it's arrow pointing down for top, arrow pointing up for bottom. Would be great if someone from Blueair can clarify this!

    @@akheng Your theory is correct, actually, and the info on Blueair's website is incorrect! I called them to double check and they told me to install the filters just like you described. The arrows are there to illustrate the direction of air floor, so the top one points down and the bottom one points up. It would be nice if Blueair could just include that info on the instructions and fix the info on their website! Sheesh

  • @6MonthsLater

    @6MonthsLater

    2 жыл бұрын

    Short answer, no. Here’s the longer explanation from Blueair’s website: “Instead of emitting ions into the room as a means of cleaning the air, Blueair air purifiers use a combination of mechanical and electrostatic filtration to remove even the tiniest particles (down to 0.1 μm) from indoor air. We call our filtration technology HEPASilent™. Whereas an ionizer, or ionizer air cleaner, uses a high-voltage charge to produce and emit ions into the room, Blueair’s HEPASilent technology, uses a fan to draw charged airborne pollutants into the air purifier so that they stick more effectively to the filter. This increases the filtration efficiency of Blueair air purifiers, while at the same time achieving a higher Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) and more silent and energy-efficient operation.” www.blueair.com/us/faq.html

    We use Levoit Core 300 Series air purifiers in my office space. They are $100. They use HEPA air filters and are also EXTREMELY effective at gathering dust allergens, smoke, and odors in a space. High-end air purifiers such as the one depicted in this video will certainly reduce or eliminate any dust build-up in your room. I can't stress enough how much I would recommend an air purifier such as the ones I use from Levoit or the one in this video. Also, unless you have pets or leave the windows open, you don't necessarily need to leave an air purifier on all day, all the time. The air filters will last longer if used for less hours, and for at home use with no pets, a large filter can easily last a year, or well over a year before replacement.

    Air filters such as these are also an effective tool at your disposal in order to reduce viral load due to COVID-19, or even other contagious particles. And at my dentist's office, they also use HEPA filters made by Levoit, running continuously during the workday.
