Once in a lifetime you have a dream and it comes true. And this is that moment for me.
When I started this sanctuary five years ago one of the first things we did was reunite Goliath and his mare Red Lady and it changed everything for us and me personally.
I understood with my own eyes and heart, the importance of freedom and family to these wild horses.
And through all that there was a six foot photograph of this wild horse Blue Zeus on my wall. He was my North Star and while he and his family were free, he represented all that was right and beautiful about wild horses.
A year ago I got an email asking me to take his family and him if they were captured. And when they were, this journey began.
The journey to this day, where all was right in the world again. Blue Zeus never looked more beautiful than in this moment, high trotting his way towards all that he knows and loves.
Three mares he captured, cherished and protected in the wild, two daughters who were still in his family when rounded up and two babies, maybe three, he fathered on the range but has never seen.
Together now forever, never to be separated again. And as I look out of the window at them grazing on the hill peacefully as if never apart - my North Star is shining so bright in the sky today.
Blue Zeus I promised you and today I kept that promise.
