Nice! The CDC really helps fill out the fly with the smaller and more sparse partridge hackle. Will definitely add this element to my recipes.

Nice work! Relatively simple fly to tie and could be done in different colors to imitate lots of different hatches. Well done.

Nice , used soft hackles almost exclusively last year on the Madison my home water just to see how effective they are . Tied them in BWO , March brown , PMD and caddis . Killer . I don’t tie in the CDC but think I will try some they look cool Thanks

nice pattern..i fish them alot as a dry fly with much success..lil bit of frogs fanny and have had some fantastic fishing with spider patterns,,a drowned adult is an easy picking for trout like a spent spinner..

Jake, this looks like a great BWO fly! Baetis are really prevalent here in Northern California and I am anxious to give this a shot. I have one question, when you are fishing soft hackles with your Euro rig, do you typically fish them as a single fly or do you fish them on a tandem rig?

Killer pattern. It’s legit. I use it here on the Flathead. I swing it behind a elk hair. It works for me. Be sure to load it up with some gunk.

I'm probably missing something but since when did BWOs start hatching in whopping size tens? I've never tied a fly in my life so I'm naturally in awe of these videos, but if someone could provide guidance on why the large fly size I'd appreciate it, thanks:)

Just found your channel and love your videos! I want to get started tying some flies but I have no idea where to begin. Could you make a video of some of your gear and make some suggestions of gear to buy for a beginner? Thanks!

Hi Jake, I am really enjoying experimenting with your soft hackle patterns, I just have a couple of questions. It is obvious that your enjoy demonstrating flies that you enjoy using. I think that is real bonus for your subscribers. I was wondering if you would mind sharing a little bit of your technique when using soft hackles. I know you mentioned using a Versileader set up for going deeper in the water column, but do you usually fish soft hackles in tandem, and if so, do you prefer to tie them in-line or off a tag? Obviously, your main focus is demonstrating how to tie the fly, but I am sure a number of your viewers would appreciate learning some of the technique that you use in fishing your favorite flies, , flies such as the softhackle and many of the competition patterns. Thanks much, and keep up the good work!
