Real Men Real Style what about situations like marriage, family gathering, reception etc ? A black suit or a navy blue or a midnight blue. Which one you say If I have to buy only one suit ?

Antonio, I have been a Subscriber for the past few years, I love your content. Unfortunately I have to disagree with the fact that midnight blue or black suits work for black and white tie. Black tie means a black or midnight blue suit with satin lapels. And white tie means tails.

Facts 😂
I own 14 suits (used to be a consultant). My favorite, by far, is black pinstripe suit by Brooks Brothers. With a solid color tie, it doesn't look 'Black' or 'White' Tie event.
Navy blue and charcoal grey are my choices

This is a phenomenal video, Antonio. This is the content I'm looking for. Bravo!
Navy blue is always great. Midnight looks like a uniform. True blue really captures the 👀. Uhh love all😂
Navy blue will pretty much do it for me when it comes to suits.
This series is great. It helped me realize that things I like on other people don't necessarily look the best on me. It's something I would definitely not buy anything new without checking out first. Even the watch video from before. In this video I would have liked to see a comparison between these colors with and without pinstripes, but I am sure there a whole separate one for that. I am glad you mentioned overseas environments as well. When I was working in Tokyo it was very different. Thanks and keep it up.
I have a selection of navy and grey to charcoal suits but my favourite one is my dark blue suit. It's somewhere between blue and navy and is a little bit more modern but I think it looks really sharp. It's also very versatile and might be the perfect colour for a blazer imo so I can wear it with non-matching slacks/chinos/jeans etc
I've always said your first suit should be a navy suit, most universal. Your second suit, and your least worn suit, should be black. Saved just for formal occasions and funerals. From there you can add a grey or a seasonal suit but I would recommend considering a tux, depending on your job of course

why is navy blue more versatile than midnight blue?
@xjimmy225x
7 ай бұрын
@@justStardust940nothing wrong with midnight blue but you'll have more selection diversity with navy. Black, dark brown, cognac and light brown shoes/belt all go with navy. You'd be limited to black with midnight, maybe a dark brown
@gabbbbbz

But isn't Black more versatile, giving you an option to play around with shirts and ties of almost all combinations
@badgasaurus4211
10 күн бұрын
@@gabbbbbz No, if anything black is more restrictive. Brown shoes with black doesn't work. Blue shirts with black don't work. Plus, wearing black screams funeral or the most formal of scenarios excluding the specific dress codes like the semi-formal black tie and formal white tie. Navy is far more versatile. Weddings, interviews, business meetings, graduations etc. You aren't wearing a black suit to a wedding or graduation.
I learned a lot. i'm going to have to watch this one a few times.

I love charcoal grey n true blue
Just got a medium grey suit for job interviews, I appreciate your help!!!
Great article Antonio. One thing I'd like to point out for black suits is I'd recommend either peak (for short to average height people) or shawl lapels (for above average to tall people) as opposed to notch lapels. I've always felt like notch lapels are geared for business or casual style wear.
I like how you taught which colors don't demand as much attention by switching suits throughout the video.
This is a very important topic in menswear, thank you!
This is a great video. I definitely had to save it to my playlist to refer back in the future
Very helpful content Mr.Antonio. Thanks for the video.
Solved all of my suit conundrums. Very informative.
Thank you. Very useful information here. Thanks for keeping to the point and using nice examples.
I really liked this video. While it didn't really teach me any groundbreaking new stuff, it was a great overview. Keep it up Antonio.
Been looking for a video like this. Thank you!!
I just bought my first two suits. Custom made here in thailand before I head back to Vegas for a business event. I'm a big guy and not used to dressing sharp. I usually sweat a lot and just wear what's comfortable. I decided to go with a dark blue suit (not navy) and a light grey. Since it's sweltering 3 months out of the year and hot for 6-7, I think I'll get more mileage out of these colors. I also went with an aqua blue linen blazer. When I saw the jacket for the first time tonight, the color is so much LOUDER than I expected from the swatch. I hope I'm able to pull it off. It just goes to show that when having custom clothing made, it always comes out looking a bit different than you picture in your head. The blue suit is perfect. The linen blazer is a bit too light and bright. I hope the light gray comes out looking good.
You are my “go to guy” when it’s time to hit a special event!! Thank you for your wealth of knowledge pertaining to fashion and life!!! You are the real life coach!!
That's a beautiful pocket square there Antonio! Where do you usually get yours from? Great video again as usual. Very clear detailed explanation. Thanks!
Another great video my man. I learn something new every time. 👍🏻🇱🇷
Hi Antonio, really nice video as usual. I have started to like a beige wool/linen type of suit for the warmer summer months for a more relaxed but still classy looks. Otherwise, for a man like me in my late 20's, navy blue and medium gray is the way to go.
Thank You Antonio For Educating This Young Gentleman That Is Beginning To Seek For The Best Suits For My Needs and Possibly My Wants As Well 👍
Great video, very informative. My only suggestion would be that you should consider doing a video about brown suits as well. I own two - one that’s almost black and one that is on the lighter side. I’ve worn both to interviews with good results.
Love this video! Amazing content.
Great and informative video! Thanks Antonio!
These videos are very sharp.
This Video answer a lot of my questions
Midnight Blue is my favourite
I wondered about the differences between which shades of blue to use. I think this just answered my question.

There you go...
I liked that this video didn't have as much of a rushed feeling as most of the more recent videos.
Thank you soo much. Charcoal grey is my go to
Emotions colors, textures, modern meanings, seasons and how best to play assets to optimize desired effect has always been a pursuit for me.
Another great and informative video I personally have dark navy charcoal gray and black all of these fit my lifestyle because they work with my skin tone and what I planned to do careerwise and also when I have a formal but I am still constantly adding more foundational colors whenever I get the chance
For me I feel medium to light grey suits are more casual, worn to take a stroll on the grass or a relaxed meeting with friends. I suppose Bond in Goldfinger is a good example.
I absolutely agree about black. If I had it to do all over again, my first suit would have been navy, but, my charcoal from Combatant Gentleman works just fine. If I do get around to buying a navy, I'm aiming for an Indochino.
Great video! I've decided tô buy the light Blue and gray.
One of best of d recent videos... Good job Sir!! 😄❤
My suit closet: Monday: Anthracite grey suit+White shirt+blue striped business tie Tuesday: Black suit+white striped shirt+red tie Wednesday: charcoal grey suit+ blue striped shirt+blue tie Thursday: Cambridge grey suit+white shirt+Dark grey or black tie Friday: Black suit+blue shirt+dark gold tie All with black oxfords no brogues.
Not what I was expecting.. Helped so much ! thanks.
I own two suits: a black one and a light gray one, both from Zara. I use both quite regularly, and I never get tired of them. Don't forget you can play around your suits and use them separately. Example: brown brogues + navy slacks + light gray "sports jacket" (the suit jacket). Or... black dress shoes + gray suit pants + black suit jacket. The other items (tie, PS, shirt, and others) will easily give richness to your outfit if you choose the right colors.
Antonio - I like the double button barrel cuff shirt. I use these shirt types as my signature piece / uniform. Besides “casual Friday’s” I always wear a double button barrel shirt with my charcoal, navy, true blue and light blue suits.
Antonio, Great video as usual. I have a Tux that I got for formal wear after I got out of the Army. I also bought a black pinstripe and navy pinstripe along with a charcoal gray suit I had owned before retiring. But what I have a lot of are 7 sports coats an blazers that I mix and match with dress slacks. When I was working in DC wearing a coat and tie was mandatory but now that I'm working for the Navy in Monterey wear everyone wears jeans and gym shoes, I have given up the tie but not the rest.

You can wear the sports coat with denim and khaki.
I own a great true blue suit but I wasn't aware that it stands out so much... Will have this points in mind in the future Thx
Loved the trick Antonio :-))
Hey Anthony, it's Berner from Canada. I just wanted to know what your thoughts are on Don Cherry's suits and his sense of style. Would love to hear it. Keep making great content, bud!
Hey Antonio, great video, thank you for the informations. I like navy and my first suit is navy. My second is a bit more fancy, it´s a nice brown suit. Keep going, greatings from germany!
Thank you Antonio. Very informative video.
Awesome video again guys.
My approach has been to have multiple navy suits with rotation...different liner / accent button color coordinated with the tie. No other suit color. When I started, I used charcoal, but gravitated to navy because everyone around me was wearing charcoal. When I was in law school, all the young (I was in my 30s, they were out of college) bought black suits for daily office wear as law clerks. One bought a black zoot suit with white chalk lines. They wouldn't listen to experience. They looked silly.
Thank u for a very informative & comprehensive video.
Agree! Navy & mid gray > charcoal for day to day, light grey & true blue only for summer, black for black tie, skip light blue which is too showey.
The 3 Wise Men of Rock once said this: “They’ll come runnin just as fast as the can, cuz every girl’s crazy bout a sharp dressed man.” ZZ Top.
Suit variations offer great options for different occasions. Some excellent suits in this video
Hey Antonio, great topic, great video, great timing. I actually thought about this yesterday. One question stays on my mind however: Remember the movie Alfie (the new one with Jude Law) - He said he's dressing down black suits with bright coloured shirts like pink - What's your opinion on that for business occasions?
great video antonio!!!
Thank you so much! This was so helpful!
This video changed my life... Thank you!
I really like the light grey tie, light blue shirt with black suit in the thumbnail. *Suit combo on the right.*
I got a Black suit, a Navy Blue suit, a kind of Darker light Blue, like your Shirt, only a Little Bit more Blue. Also got a Blue, grey crossed suit and a Black and White crossed suit. All of Them are able to Look casual, as well as formal, it depents on The Event and The Shirt youre going to combine with it.
Great video and great way to get the idea clear
Thanks. Hard to find such in depth analysis of style issues.
Could you do a video about vests and/or three piece suits? I think that would be a really interesting video. Great content!
Thank you, great video. Hey, I learned something today!
Awesome video

Como siempre, excelente video. Gracias
After watching your video I ordered navy blue suit to bespoke tailor, I'm a university student. Thank you
navy, charcoal, medium gray are must haves.
Fantastic tips... I learned a lot...
Outstanding!! Thanks!!
I'm gonna tailor a custom suit soon, and I thought which better person than RMRS to ask for advice. And damn, it paid off. I'm gonna go with medium grey
Excellent video, thank you.
Great video!
I need an advise Antonio! I live in Singapore which is pretty much summer all year round.... I’m planning to buy 2 different suits. One Navy because of its timelessness and versatility and the other grey. However I’m contemplating on which grey should I go? Charcoal, medium or light? (I’m an Architect and not a business man so I work in a more creative industry.) Please give me an advise on which grey should I pick! Thank you!
Agreed! What about, for summer/hot weather, a khaki-coloured 2-piece suit? I have one, albeit not utilised yet, but as it is light I would wear a contrasting dark shirt with it.
Thank you, sounds like I'll be getting a navy blue suits 👍🏻
I enjoyed the video, but there are two more colors I want to hear about from you: dark brown and Tan. Will there be video on those or is there already?
I *love* black suits and have a new found love of true blue and midnight blue
Hi Antonio Great video with valuable information. Could you do a suit mix for the older guy 50 ish, grey hair ish, so we can work out our best suit wear in the right occasion that will also work with our light complexion. Cheers Clint
