Blue Line Standards of the NHL's Elite Defensemen

Спорт

Looking to see what the offensive standards are for the NHL's elite defensemen? Look no further than this week's Train 2.0 video as we help defensemen everywhere with blue line mechanics and strategy to find a lane and get more pucks on net. We break down three key mechanics that set the standard for the NHL's elite defensemen when walking the blue line:
1) Backwards Corkscrew: Practice shooting while executing a backwards Corkscrew motion. Instead of a forward Corkscrew, aim the motion towards the butt end of your stick. This technique improves wrist shots and maintains control. Open up your body, create lag, and release the puck in a whip-like motion.
2) Mohawk 10-2: Use the 10-2 mechanic to create lateral space. Execute this to shift laterally and find shooting lanes. Release the puck directly from the 10-2 position or step into a PL29 style wrist shot.
3) Backward Soft Drag: Change direction seamlessly while skating backward using the backward soft drag. Softly drag the puck to quickly shift momentum and perform moves like stepping into a 10-2 position or crossing over.
Remember to maintain a proper head pattern. Scan the net and the play, alternating between looking up and down. This ensures awareness and reduces the risk of mishandling bouncing pucks. Incorporate these footwork and head positioning mechanics into your practice to unlock your full shooting potential from the Blue Line. Stay tuned for our next video, where we'll further explore these techniques.

When doing the soft drag backwards do you apply pressure more in the heel or toes? The way Makar gets that snow spray off his blades doing it, i can't seem to do that.
