Jays probably could have won this game, but they just called it. I knew people were going to blame the loss on the jays. The umps did.

When I saw the radar/rain was clear in KC, and play wasn't resumed shortly thereafter, I figured they'd call the game.

Top 3 in batting order is the worst in major, no clue why coach didnt sit Vladdy for a game and move springer down. With kirk almost an auto out everytime. Painful to watch...17 straight games scoring 5 runs or less..

Wrong, unless it's tied after 5,6,7,8,9,even 10 innings and still tied. Then the game will be suspended. If the team is ahead after 5,6,etc innings, then the team wins.

Springer is improving,sit Vlad and Bo will improve,dump J.Schneider and Walker and the whole team will improve.Also setting a line up and staying with it for a week might help.

I was in Kansas City yesterday. I don’t remember it raining.

Game should have been continued for next time teams meet. MLB has stupid rules in place.

It’s too difficult having to reschedule games as this is the last time Toronto is in KC. They play them again after the Dodgers series but it’s in Toronto. They had to push through this to make it official. Players weren’t complaining.

@@munaclassic4020 Rarely do they do that. As mentioned earlier by someone, rescheduling is a nightmare when they have limited games this early in the season. And no one wants a doubleheader if they can avoid that.

You need to stop the game when you see water standing on the ground, and the reason is, that a player can get injured and may be end his career with an accident.

does any one know how long it took them to call game?

I'd like to see the Blue Jays score some runs for once.

why is Vlade in the batting lineup when he bats like he is in high school, he should be in the batting cage daily until he learns to bat like the hitters

MLB needs to change the rule for games like this. If the two teams still have series to play before the season ends the game should be completed at next series. If teams don't play another series then fine game ends as is, but no reason should a game like this not be finished at the next series the two teams have.

This trying to play through rain needs to stop, it is not fair, call it early and double header. Simple!!

What a clown show. They should have gotten the tarp out sooner. I don't know why the umpires made them stop rolling out the tarp. Had they done that, the field would have been in better condition and they maybe could have finished the game later. But then to have both teams just sit there for 3+ hours when both have to fly out for games tomorrow (the Royals especially, they play at noon in Detroit) was ridiculous. Once they got to an official game with the field in that condition they should have called it.

Dude it literally never rains in KC...only when there is a ball game 😂

Fire that UMP that wasted 20 minutes and THEN called for the tarp. Oh, and fire Angel Hernandez while you're at it MLB.

It wasn't the ump, the grounds crew and umps were all calling for the tarp as soon as the 5th inning ended. It was John Schneider himself who came out, tried to call off the crew and convince the umps to go on with the Top 6th inning. Very much looks like he was trying to force in at least one more Jays run to change the inevitable weather loss into a no-contest. But yes, please do fire Angel Hernandez.

One, it's an MLB rule old as time: if the home team is winning after 5 innings and the game gets called for weather/act of god, it's the home team's win. Been that way for a long time. Two, field crew were on it right away, but Schneider himself came out and tried to call them off. He knew the game would enter delay regardless and they had played enough to be called a Jays loss if the game was cancelled. So, he was trying really hard to call off the crew, get all the players back on the field for the Top 6, in a hail mary attempt for the Jays to score at least one run and make it a no-contest instead. That 15-20 minute delay destroyed many parts of the diamond and by that point, the tarp wasn't fixing anything.
