At first, I thought the tenor guy was playing “out,” and I was like “yeah I like this. This is different”; then I realized he was a beginner haha. He sounds great, though!

Everyone has to start somewhere! Congrats to Correy for putting yourself out there with world class players and trying your best! Eric's playing is wonderful, as usual.

He wasn't terrible. Anybody would sound less than magnificent next to Eric and crew. I wish I had his guts to get up there. If he keeps that up he will progress and leave the naysayers in the dust.

@@jaykerouac2 Eric, as world renowned expert and accomplished saxophonist, should have held back or even declined a solo improv, lest for fear the tenor beginner might be discouraged and perhaps gave up. Eric is as great an instructor as he is a sax expert; I have learnt so much from him, both as a person and saxophonist. Maybe, like a youthful Charles "Yardbird" Parker, Corey will return as the new John Coltrane or Michael Brecker, reincarnated (smile)

Yes, a rotten player. The name cats smugly look at him in a friendly way. They know better but are afraid to say or do anything. What kind of teachers could they be? The tune should have been stopped after a few of the horrible notes, and the poor player either ejected, or lectured to. I don't know what else to say. I am an alum of Berklee from late 70's/early 80's. This garbagey playing would not have been smiled at by teachers back then. Yelling at crappy players, kicking their ass, was part of the schooling back then.

Well look they probably invited him up there knowing how he plays. He’ll be a better musician for this. This video is free. It’s not like he’s ruining someone’s dinner or someone’s concert. So I say let him get some experience with the big cats in this better environment. Good on Eric for being a teacher.

Ahhh there's nothing like elitist snobs to suck the joy out of music. They may be totally correct but a world made by perfect pitch and click tracks formulated and devoid of spontinaity will soon be upon us. AI robots can replace us mediocre struggling musicians who play with feeling out of love and the world will be a sterile unsurprising place.
