You probably don't recall the model but those Fishers look just like the pair of DS 177's I found. In stock form, muddy bass and weak mids. But with new capacitors and insulation added in the cabinets, they sound much better.

They were DS-178. Everything about them was shitty. Thin boxes, no insulation, cheap muddy woofers, fake ports, papercone tweeters, and single capacitor as a crossover. They'd need a lot of work to become decent speakers and I don't even think it'd be worth it unless you really wanted to do it

Huh. The Ds 177's I found had caps for the mid and tweeter which I replaced and actual ports. Cabinets are slightly thin but solid enough. Sound sweep didn't reveal any cabinet rattles but I might add another brace inside them. I mean I got them for free and I wanted a set of 12's. The good thing about them being low end is I can mess around with them and not worry about ruining them.

No Name the box was cheap(particle board)but not that bad, good enough for the drivers in it. The ports were just a hole in the box, not actual tubes that went in it. The crossovers were just a single capacitor that went to the midrange and tweeter. If you watch my other video about the Fisher STV 887As I upgraded, you can see all the things I would fix in a pair of Fishers

Yeah I saw, and made notes. I might pick up a pair of those speakers you're using as mids. Fishers are low end, like one step above White Van speakers, but they're 80's low end. That means you get big cabinets, separate and functional drivers, and a 12 inch woofer. Modern low end stuff? Tiny plastic cabinets with drivers the size of mini CD's and that crappy PC/Bluetooth speaker "bass" that not even the little subwoofer can compensate for. Those can't be changed. There isn't much you can do to make those better. But 80's low end stuff? I have the cost of new capacitors and a roll of the cheapest fiberglass insulation I could find, so maybe $30 put into them and I could probably turn around and sell them for twice that easily. Of course I'd always be open to getting something higher end...

HEY! I used to have one of those fishers :( They are by no means accurate or even mid-range but they are extremely efficient. 20-50 watts could give you tons of bass, although muddy, it's better than nothing.
