I prefer the models from 3 since they're more expressive. Yugo looks like he aged backwards in 4, and his beast form was just a major downgrade.

I didn't like BR3 as I started playing BR PM first. BR3 isn't better as a whole than PM, for example the OST is more nervous in PM. PM has the DNA of bloody roar when I played it in 1998 !

This game has some really cool ass characters & designs. Would love to see this series make a comeback. I bet it'd look amazing this era.

As in the game isn't hard to learn on a basic level, so beginners can fight each other with some level of competency and even figure out small combos on their own by experimenting. I don't know what this Shen Long combo is you're talking about, and I did look for it, but that doesn't matter. I wasn't claiming the game lacked depth, if that's why you brought that up.

It's the only fighting game I can play with my brother because he refuses to learn moves in 2d fighting games and he isn't a fan of Tekken, but he's actually pretty good in BR games It's a shame there isn't a fighting game as simple and fun as BR games nowadays

​@@TherealArklucasLong/SL's combo loop is basically just a ring lol, it also has many launcher finishers allowing easy juggle and reset. Not that hard to comprehend and frankly pretty ineffective if the opponent knows how to time recovery right.

I don't like the fact that BR4 has a forcefield around the stages. ( they were already small to begin with ) No ring outs also hurts the gameplay a bit. If Hudson had a bit more time, I'm sure that the game could've been as good as BR2.

Man, I remember loving this series so much when I was younger. In 3, they had so much more personality with their expressions and fighting stances and just generally had better models. PF definitely gave some of the characters some nice design upgrades, but then took 2 steps backwards like with Yugo and his beast drive. It would be nice to see the series get some love again with a new game.

This franchise needs a reboot. R.I.P. Hudson Soft, they gave us BR & the Paper Mario classics

@@bimapradiga8853 Konami is not really that well known when it comes to fighting game genre... not to mention BR is 3 dimensional fighting game like TEKKEN. So I highly doubt that Konami wll ever consider giving Bloody Roar franchise a chance to be in a fighting game spotlight.

I have very mixed feelings about it all. Some characters had better beast designs in BR3 while their normal forms looked better in BR4, and then its the other way around for a few other characters. Like Yugo and Gados normal forms looked better in BR4 but they had better beast designs in BR3 And then theres Busuzima that just looks 100% desirable no matter what.

Not Alice! her new personality is just ewww, same with the design. They took away her original aesthetics.. I wish the new Alice was a new character while keeping her original design. Could've been like Xiaoyu and Miharu.

@@beastorizeofsion Thats because Alice is in her mid 20's and you wouldn't know that based off her personality and appearance, with that you'd think she's a teen. They redesined her to show her maturing and growing up

holy cow I had forgotten just how much the girls got the short end of the stick with the redesigns. They looked way better in the 3 one.

@@amuroikimasu7488 If Combo Breaker's event for BR EXTREME gets hype and enough clickrates we will definitely be able to plead for BR5, the trademark really means nothing I am afraid.

I think the engine and environment was an upgrade but some character, clothes and beast form are a combination of upgrade and downgrade. Obviously Bloody Roar 3 looked like it was made with more passion and devotion, their idle animation speaks volumes. I think BR4 only looked good cause of the new automation tools for newer game designers, In short, I feel like they only did the bare minimum, even with newer technology. The only thing I can give credit BR4 for is the color correction or color harmony and some skin tones.

And the proportions of the Beast forms are kind of better in 4. Long and Shenlong's beast forms look better in 4 when their heads and neck are properly placed and not just smushed into their shoulders. Though I'll admit they slacked on the textures. 3 has more fur-like textures.

3 was also the last time Naochika Morishita/Caramel Mama was the artist. Primal Fury and 4 went generic CGI and some no-name artist.

Xion had an awesome revamped looked in primal fury/extreme/4. Looked awesome. I preferred his B costume (black) in BR 3 and the facial structure of the gold yellow unborn beast form.

Thank you for putting so much work into this video. Bloody Roar was my first fighting game, and as such, holds a special place in my heart. If I could get a remake; I would have it be BR3 with BR2 getting some kinda HD/Model updated version. I never actually got to play BR3 myself. Only 1, 2, 4 and Primal Fury. Thank you again for bringing back memories from my childhood.

Dude same! I had my hopes up back in 2020. I only played 2 & 3. 3 is what got me into fighting games in general, I remember being blown away as a kid by the transformations. With the resurgence that fighting games have had you’d think this is the time for a remake, even typically niche fighting games like Guilty Gear gained a ton of popularity. One can only hope I guess 😭

Just got this video in my recommended videos and god I really miss this game. I can just imagine how amazing a remake of Bloody Roar could look in 2022.

Some characters look better in 3, then some got a big upgrade in 4 Yugo in particular looks like the 3 design was MILES better than 4. It actually looks wild Then characters like Bakuryu needed that scarf to give his character a bit more identity. This is a really good video

I barely know anything about this series so got some questions: -Which game released later, is it me or BR 4 seems to have a slightly worse graphic than 3? -Why there are some characters who don't have new design?

Hi Huy Tùng Nguyễn, The BR 3 game was released in December 2000 and BR 4 in November 2003. The reason BR 4 seems a bit inferior to BR 3 is because Hudson (the game's developer) went into a financial crisis. Seeing the need to seek new financing alternatives, Hudson Soft entered the stock market where Konami bought 5.6 million shares, becoming the majority shareholder. Years later Konami started the development of BR 4 for Playstation 2, the problem that this game had was having recycled the designs of BR Prymal Fury (Extreme in Japanese) that was released for the Nintendo GameCube. I have two theories as to why this. The first is that because the Nintendo console was much more powerful than the PS2, they had to downgrade so that it would not have any problems on the console. And the second theory is that they simply wanted to get out of the game by simply making money without trying too hard.

Bloody Roar 3 released in 2000 on the arcade machine & a year later on PS2, while Bloody Roar 4 released in 2003, exclusively to the PS2.

This game definitely needs a come back big time

I like this because it clearly gives everybody a look on how drastically they changed Alice. I still remember playing 3 and doing combos and etc with her and then 4 came in and i thought they cut her cause she looked like and acted like a complete different character lol I prefer her in 4, she looks less ''anime-ish'' and acts in a less ridiculous way (for some reason they made her over the top with that in 3 compared to other entries). Some models look better in 3 and some look better in 4, but all of them give nostalgia, i really miss Bloody Roar.

Man, I love Yugo's wild SSJ like hair in 3's beast form, and how his fur puffs out of his gloves. I do like 4's design too, but it should've kept those aesthetics. I do like that they improve the foot structure of some models like Long compared to 3, in 3 he sorta looked like something you'd see on a stuffed doll or something. If they ever make a new game, I do hope Alice gets a revamp in design. I feel like it got too bunny like in 4, losing that 'cool' appeal it had in the previous games. Oh, and they should bring back the Fox in some form.

I like the redesign in almost every way, but should have kept the pigtails.. They were a reprisentation of her rabit ears.

It’s weird because they both have obviously better traits in some area or another, for each character. If One of them is supposed to be the updated redesign, it seems that one made certain elements worse, and some better lol

We need a reboot of the series, BR 2 was a solid and fun fighting game back in the ps2 era, 3 was an improved sequel and primal fury is probably the best one

BR 3 has less polygons, but they have way more personality. BR4 took away the best outfits. I liked BR4 new fighting mechanics but a lot of things about the game seemed cheap. Why did they take away the double duck?

4 just looks like something they just threw together. 3 looks like someone actually put time into it

I think they got the beast names for Uriko backwards. In BR4 it's "Uriko the cat" but in BR3 it's "Half-beast" BR4's Uriko looks more like half a beast (to me) than a cat due to the more humanoid facial features. I think they should've switched the titles.

Sorry to break it to you that won't be happening. And besides the bloody roar series has no connection with Nintendo so be careful what you wish.

The oh shit moment when you beat arcade undefeated and surprisingly have to fight the secret boss. One of the biggest oh shit moments in my life and she scraped me off like a bug

This game was the SHIT back in the day, I'd maim for a bloody roar reboot!!!

Primal Fury was one of my favorite fighting game on the gamecube, next to Soul Calibur 2 because it had Link in it. Xion being my main because of the dope Unborn beast mode.

This game is so under appreciated. Definitely ahead of its time!

I hope we get another entry or at least a spiritual successor at some point, this series is on of my childhood favourites.

This series was great and desperately needs a reboot. How have we released RE4 5 times and counting, Skyrim 9 times and not this?

I grew up with 4, and i gotta say i personally love the series a lot. Its just too bad that Konami is doing nothing with it besides maybe a mobile game.

I always wondered why Extreme and 4 felt like a downgrade compared to 3. Yugo, Long or Shenglong beast forms look awesome and had better textures in 3. Even with that there're things I prefer from Extreme/4 like some chars faces.

BR3 aimed for more "realism" it came out in the early days of the ps2 when everyone tried to shine. The later installments have a different artstyle and look way more anime and stylized than BR3 look at marvel/shina she looks horrible after BR3. BR3 is visuals and gameplay wise my favourite br installment I miss that IP.

Did they ever say what would happen to Yugo when there's a full Moon? As I know he has a line where he says "Just be grateful it's not a full moon" or words to that expression.

No argument, both versions looks very nice. In BR3 it seems that the monster models looks like high textures, some normal modal were looking fine and good, in BR3 It seems that they're more focused on more high polygon model, the texture surely wasn't as good as previous version but it does the trick, no big deal, and I personally think the model design in BR4 were lot more cooler, some don't or worst but still fine. Both are good game, good comparison vids.

It's been really sad seeing so many of them go away. Tekken,Bloody Roar,DOA,Soul Calibur all were special to me growing up. They all offered something different too. Tekken/DOA approach & core was completely different from one another. Soul Calibur was the weapon fighter & Bloody Roar was the beast fighter. It was also one of the first 3D games to have supers and not include it in a stupid manner. Now pretty much Tekken is the only one left standing. DOA & Soul Calibur sadly finally fell off it seems.

Wait....im confused, why do some things look way better in 3? One of the first times im actually looking at 3 tbh, Primal Fury is the only BR ive ever owned and played so im only familiar with that one and have seen images of some of the low poly ones. Just at the start i like Yugo's 3 stance more than PF's(and his beast form looks really nice too but idm the design in PF either)

I prefer the newer models from PF, Extreme & 4 for every character EXCEPT for Yugo's beast form, which is a shame cause he's always been my main haha. I think the older model for the wolf form looks way more wild and cool, though I do prefer the newer outfit something about that lil padding on one of his legs always bugged me on the original...no idea why haha.
