LYRICS
When I get home,
You better not be there
We're placing bets you won't Shed your modesty
And the only thing to leave behind
Is your own skin on the floor
Don't you shy away
Manifest a ceiling when you shy away
Searching for that feeling
Just like an 'I Love You'
That isn't words
Like a song he wrote
that's never heard
Don't you shh...
When you get home
You barely recognize the pictures they
put in a frame
'Cause you shed your modesty
Don't circle the track
Take what you have
and leave your skin on the floor.
Don't you shy away
Manifest a ceiling when you shy away
Searching for that feeling
Just like an 'I Love You'
That isn't words
Like a song he wrote
that's never heard
When I get home
Boy, you better not be there
You're long gone
Shed your modesty
Don't circle the track
Just break the cycle in half
and leave your skin on the floor.
Don't you shy away
Manifest a ceiling when you shy away
Searching for that feeling
Just like an 'I Love You'
That isn't words
Like a song he wrote
that's never heard
that's never heard...
an 'I Love You'
That isn't words
Like a song he wrote
that's never heard
Don't you shy away.

Glad you enjoyed your first listen to the boys. If you take the time to absorb their music you’ll be rewarded with an insanely deep rabbit hole. Highly recommend Ode To Sleep official music video. It is the opening track from Vessel and the video is shot in a documentary style and so gives some good background. Their lyrics are intelligent, complex, metaphorical and meaningful, with a lot of emphasis on mental health, dealing with anxiety etc. The music varies so much it is usually said that they are genre-less. And yes I’m a fan :-)

Thanks so much for checking this song out, glad you enjoyed it. This song is from their newest album 'Scaled and Icy' which sounds a lot poppier than their previous albums so kinda a different sound from them. Usually it's just Josh (drummer) and Tyler (singer and everything else) on stage but for this album they have a band performing with them when the play live, playing the instruments Tyler played on the record. All their promotion and performances around this album are deliberately very colourful and kinda over the top, like with the dancing on the table and wearing fur coats and stuff. tyler wrote this song to encourage his younger siblings, particularly his brother to pursue their dreams and not 'shy away' from what they want to do.

Every twenty one pilots is a heartfelt song. It’s mostly very dark when you listen and also brilliant. Edit: there are a couple songs written over a couple albums to his wife that are lighter but he mostly makes you think.

They definitely take their lyrics and their videos very seriously. This isn't the official video but there still a whole storyline being told in the whole Livestream Concert. There's meaning in everything they put out even if it's hard for fans to figure it out.

This song is off their new album Scaled and Icy (which means scaled-back and isolated), and the sound of the album was meant to be uplifting and more retro-pop feel due to the pandemic, this sound from them is actually far from their DNA, their previous albums sound nothing like this, but then again that's kind of what they're known for is being genre-less... their first ever music video with an actual budget was called 'Holding onto You' off their first major studio album called Vessel

I agree with Bee. There is a lot to unpack with these guys. Like Bee said, up until this album any performance they have done it is just the two, Josh and Tyler. They play their instruments along with some backtracks, but they put on a SHOW! The other people playing with them are musicians from some other bands they have toured with and befriended. I think they are there to play the instruments that are either usually played by Tyler or are recorded and played in the back. A majority of their music has to do with mental health and finding yourself and Tyler's desire to figure out how God works in his life- in the good times as well as the times that he has struggled with his mental health. The band's music has been filled with subtle references to characters they have created over the years who represent different aspects of their struggles. They invented a mythical place called Dema, where people who are not winning their battle with mental health are trapped and often cannot find the way to get out/ get better. There is so much to go into with them. This song is actually performed live. They have an official video for this song as well. If you should like to look into their other music, a good couple of songs to start with are Car Radio, Ode to Sleep, Ride, Guns for Hands, etc... Pretty much all of their music is creative and has no genre. If you want to see more live performances there are a bunch recorded at the Fox Theater which are amazing. They have been credited as saving many lives through their introspective and inclusive lyrics. Not many artists sing about mental health and help people not feel alone and different. Twenty One Pilots do this, and more. I am glad you enjoyed this. It was fun to watch!

This is very unlike TOP. The frontman Tyler Joseph made this song for his little brother, showed him how music is done (in his home studio). Jay Joseph started his own career recently. TOP has usually a lore behind many things they do, so it's not only music. They like to connect with their fans also. Quite unsual music and band, but very imaginitive and talented. Tyler's band mate is his best friend, Josh Dun. They gathered people to play with them recently, for the live stream they had & the gigs and shows they had. You might want to check out them some more.

You got me to subscribe. I want to see you go down the TOP rabbit hole!! Their earliest "Official Video" is a cover of Christina Perry's "Jar of Hearts" - it is live footage of Tyler Joseph with the original 3-piece band playing in front of a home town audience (uploaded Feb 22, 2011.) It is found on their twenty one pilots KZread channel. The earliest original song music video (not concert footage) is not on their channel. "House of Gold" (originally uploaded October 19, 2011). They later released this song and an Official music video under FBR/Warner, and you can find it on the Fueled by Ramen channel. But the original better reflects the meaning of the song, IMO. The original 2011 music video director/friend Mark C. Esherman still works with them and still produces some of their music videos. You should react to this video, as the earliest representation of unsigned Twenty One Pilots. It can be found on a fan channel Stephen Shutters. I'll post link below. Then react to "Ode to Sleep" as it is a good introduction to their story. (On Fueledby Ramen, 2014).
