I love watching these games, particularly because of the artstyle which in turn gives me a *definite reason* to watch this in 1080p.

I love the pause right after Arin accidentally utters the phrase "a tiny batman". Like he was mining for iron and struck gold.

This is a great game! Played it through in a single go and even played a little into Nightmare Mode! It really gets you psyched for the actual game (Ritual of the Night) as well. How many kickstarts are nice enough to give you an old school platformer as a hold over for a main game? This was so awesome.

Then again, Mighty Gunvolt was a side project for MN9, and we all know how well that turned out. Don't take this as me shitting on Bloodstained or anything; I want it to be good as much as anyone, and I do like what I've seen so far. But I personally prefer to keep my expectations realistic.

mn9 had a habit of keeping people in the dark. and when it was revealed, it had a terrible marketing campaign. bloodstaineds devs have been nothing but honest with us. providing us frequent teasers that show off bits of the game, just enough to make us want more, but not too much that it'd spoil us. hell, igarashi himself was shocked and awed at the reception his kickstarter campaign gained. himself doubting it would get funded. nothing about bloodstained seemed devious or underhanded. bloodstained is doing a million times better than mn9 ever did with its campaign. as long as no major controversy arises that soured peoples tastes of yooka-laylee (which i will still defend as a great game.) bloodstained will do fine.

It's unlikely that the grumps will read this, but since they're talking about skyward sword I would suggest that when you do that playthrough you let Danny play, then you'll have a fresh and genuine perspective on the game instead of Arin's cynical* outlook on it. If Dan plays Skyward sword, I guarantee that you will have the most frustrating experience you've ever had. If you think Arin is bad at playing while doing a show, ooh boy will Dan show him up. The series would take much longer, and Arin would have to help Dan along like he did in ALBW (only this time, every piece of help would be back with sarcasm). I don't know how Arin's hatred of the game makes it not "genuine", but trust me: You do NOT want Dan to play.

Cynical* But if you recall, Arin (in the Breath of the Wild playthrough) said that BotW was good because it didn't "hold your hand"; even accused the entire series of being one of, if not *the* most "hand-holdy" franchises. He quits Majora's mask because it didn't hold his hand enough. And he's right. He is a dumb mother fucker that can't even land a simple jump. And this is the guy that completed (granted with two summons) DS3. It has to be psychological. Something about the previous entries in the Zelda franchise simply doesn't mesh well with Arin's chemistry. I don't know if he has ADHD or anything of that nature, or if it's just a failure to learn, but the most basic mechanics (he struggles with Z-targeting ffs) in Zelda stumps him on some fundamental level.

That last stand attack the boss did before dying is totally inspired by Rondo of Blood. Most bosses in that game would try to sneak in one last hit before going down.

A game where you are a demon hunter that hits straight forward with sub weapons that go either up or down and breaks lamps to regain "ammo" for his sub weapons with enemy's including bats and heads that are stacked on top of eachother and shoot fire proyectiles, in an NES style? I'VE NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE

I still have no sympathy for Arin for Majora's Mask, he rushed it and ignored everything around him focusing o the dungeons when they are 30% of the game. And the thing that still pisses me off about it is that he has said in the past that 'The Legend of Zelda is about exploration' which he did none of, which makes me think Arin doesn't like but more of the concept of the first game and LttP, and even then he's made it clear he doesn't care about what is said, to him those zelda games are like a bare bones GTA game.

I just can't tell what he likes in a video game. Whenever he talks about open world games, he makes it out like he cannot stand being given instructions, but without something to constantly remind him what to do, he forgets important info, gets lost, and drops the game. I really get that making commentary over a game is difficult, but the rate at which he forgets information is staggering. And we're all human, so we're inclined to forgive mistakes as long as the person making them tries to correct them. But with Arin, that just doesn't happen. Time and time again, he blames the game for problems that are self-inflicted. He overlooks the aspects of a game that make it good in his eyes, then complains about a lack of said aspects.

CattaBlah Games well a parallax is just the difference you see in the appearance of an object if you view it at an angle and it’s scrolling… It’s funny that Dan kind of already describes the effect of a parallax by his little train story and probably still won’t remember the word in the future

probably not since aran is bad at zelda's and he didn't even bother to explore in that game the one thing he says he likes about zelda to get more hearts
