I finally got around to playing Bloodborne and was pleasantly surprised with how good it was. It isn't a souls game while it does share some similarities like certain mechanic's and whatnot it really stands on its own in my opinion and really feels like a definitive H.P. Lovecraft wet dream. I thought Portal fit perfectly creating such a dark, murky, filthy, "abstract" sort of atmosphere. It really fits well with Lovecraft's famous quote "The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown."
