You probably didn't mention this because it wasn't actually fixed until 1.03, but I'm a bit surprised the memory leak bug was never mentioned. If you left your PS4 on for several hours, boss movesets would bug out and they'd just spam the same basic attacks over and over. It was like an unintentional easy mode.

​@MrMetagross it's a weird bug that was happening if the game had been running on the ps4 for an extended period of time, people estimated roughly 12 hours, some said it could be in rest mode. The basis is once the "memory leak" occurred, boss movesets would be very basic. Micolash for example would use his fists only, Ebrietas would headbutt the floor over and over again or spit up blood. The idea that it's a memory leak is a theory, but it also makes sense given that at the time, bloodborne did seem demand a lot from the playstation on release, resource wise. So to keep the game going it probably started dumping out some info.

I don’t recall her being super crazy, but then again I play these games religiously and I walked into that boss fight and then out of it within the span of a minute or two. My friends had a different story though.

@@Alex-or6jj this boss would've been the easiest boss to fight if she didn't have her spiders around her protecting her .

Something important that you didn't say is that in version 1.0 holding up a shield while approaching a winter lantern would block any frenzy buildup. This was removed for some reason on launch. I really wish it had been kept, It would make sense that blocking your vision of them would stop you from getting frenzied.

I'm less impressed with the differences between this version and the old one, and more impressed with the fact that you changed Bloodborne into Doom with that broken ass Rifle Spear.

ah, yes. the first game in this series i was actually around for on day one. and yes, even with day one patches, the loading times were very, very special :)...

Also bloodletting beast did an absurd amount of damage one shotting at 50 vigor with hp runes, shadows of yharnam had no music, couldn’t use root chalices even while offline, areas would often fail to load in before you got to them (especially around cathedral ward), and that’s about everything I remember from playing the 1.0 version due to no internet.

20:45 That sounds a lot like it, and it’s probably why it was cut, given that you need to eat the umbilical cords to fight moon presence, which that description says the opposite of

It's actually a shame they removed the purple glow on the Wetnurse's blades. That looks so cool. Also the lighting during the Micolash fight (or lack therefore I should say) and less of a blueish hue during the Ebrietas fight works a bit better as well.

yeah, agreed. i feel like games often slowly loose some of their visual details and/or identity when they get updated and or patched. dont know if its just the lighting changes or if there is some color correction difference but from the short part shown in the video i might prefer 1.0 old yharnam. could the lighting changes also effect the color correction?

I do wonder why they never bothered to fix the inactive Boss AI exploits, which is still in Elden Ring. They could just have them aggro upon being attacked, when the fog is not passed before.

@@teamfossil6312 I have a degree in IT (although little experience in game development), but setting an event to trigger both upon entering a fog wall, as well as attacking an enemy should be fairly simple. Especially when this fixes an exploit known for about 10 years.

I'm 90% sure it's because it works as bait for glitch hunters to find all the weird and wonderful skips in their games for them. Means they get free gamma testing and they get increased engagement from the community.

My guess is that they just don't care? And I kinda agree with them. There's nothing bad about a boss not aggroing in a certain circumstance, when that circumstance requires a rather specific and purposeful glitch.

They probably just don't care, it's never intended for you to fight them without going through the fog walls

Forgot to mention the nightmare that fighting Ebrietas and Amigdala was: 1 hit kill from the virtually impossible to evade charge attack. That and the loading times is the only thing a can remember from day 1 Bloodborne.

Found your channel from the Dark souls 1 day one release version video, just watched the ds2 one last night, and now this one magically came out

Apparently the Wooden Shield was able to block Frenzy from the Winter Lanterns if you used it to cover your eyes.

Fun video, but it's a bit of a stretch to consider the boomstick build a day one build experience. On a different note, I never thought the spear was weak. It has reach, and speed, and you can parry in both modes. It's pretty versatile. The most notable differences since day one to me have always been the shorter loading times, and bigger storing capacity for consumables.

Hey, I played this game almost a dozen times unpatched because I had shitty Internet. 14:55 I wanted to clarify that you couldn't summon anyone, not even Alfred or Gascoigne. I tried so many times but to no avail. ALSO the Bloody Crow of Cainhurst DOES spawn, but I THINK he spawns with his Chikage transformed. My reasoning for this is because the moment you return from the Rom fight, you can turn around and run right back to him. But if you go through another loading screen and return, you'll find him dead. It could also be the other way around because I have a bad memory, meaning the first time he spawns right after Rom, you have to go through a loading screen right away before the Chikage drains his HP so he can reset with it being in its normal mode. I'm fairly sure I have recordings of the Doll humming and the Scourge Beast(s) spawning in the Celestial Emissary arena

The fog to Shadows was actually glitched. It was impassable for me until patched.

My Russian isn't that great, but the pronunciation of "Bayu Bayushki Bayu" was pretty much spot on to my ears. You're just doing it with an American accent (or Canadian, can't really tell tbh), but otherwise you got it. Also, for the hell of it, I had to look up how to pronounce "Ebrietas" a while ago because I was at a complete loss myself, and it's "AY-bree-ay-tahs", with "ay" rhyming with "hey" and "-tahs" rhyming with "toss" but with a broad A like "calm". If you want to really nail it, then roll the R and boom, you can now pronounce a word in Latin properly. If anyone's curious, it means "drunkenness", and I think that's where we get the word "inebriated" from in English, though I haven't looked that up to verify yet. Great video btw :) This is how I played a good chunk of Bloodborne originally, I remember taking advantage of the infinite Bone Marrow Ash glitch quite a bit before I updated my game. Honestly, it was nowhere near as bad as playing Elden Ring unpatched on PC, with the disappearing horse/NPC glitch and the horrible performance.

It was great day one (I could take a nap between zones/warps)

I played on Day 2, technically. I grabbed a disc copy from game stop on March 24, 2015. Drove there straight from school and then picked up my cousin and drove and hour and 45 minutes to see a Bo Burnham Show. So I played after school on Day 2 😂

God I thought I imagined the loading screens just saying bloodborne

I would say playing on a PS5 does not count as the say 1 BB experience. Having 30 second load screens instead of 2 minute ones makes a huge difference.

great timing, haflways though Lies of P at the moment, but i recently had an overwhelming urge to go back to BB. and all i have currently IS the day 1 disc version :) so im now playing, defeating, collecting as many things as i can at bl4 (using skip and dupe glitches ofc) to have as many things as possible before re buying GOTY Edition soon and getting REALLY back into it! :D GOD I love this game. fav of all time.

To think that to this day, after all the updates, it's still the most broken and badly made From game released since at least Demon's Souls. Even the areas could not load properly, if you travel back and forth between them!

This is my preferred way to play bloodborne actually, because I can just grind to max level through duping and then breeze through the game.

I love bloodborne but i had a breakdown with some of these boss fight 😂💀. Some of them were really annoying.

Bloodborne on day one consisted of severely long loading screens if you died and you’re going to die A LOT 😅. It was an all black screen that said Bloodborne in white text and you had to stare at that screen in agony!

Day one? Just put in the disc and play with no patches. Not a major deal, thats how I played it.

I wished I finished this game when my brother had it on PS4. 😭😭
