I was told I needed to get a shot before becoming pregnant...but I forgot. The day after giving birth the nurse gave me one and said 2nd pregnancy could be dangerous if I didn't get it. My problem and question is this: half of my medical records say I'm O+ and the other half say I'm O-. Does getting the shot change your Rh status? Thanks! (also, will a doctor or hospital do a blood type test if you ask them and are willing to pay?) Thanks again!!

Your blood type does not change (unless you get a bone marrow transplant). If you donate blood, they will test you for free. If you have any kind of medical care provider, ask them for a blood test... but please wait until your health care system can recover from the COVID pandemic... we all need to reduce the strain on our health care systems right now.

My sister in law is O+ and she gave birth to an AB+. Her husband my brother is AB-. It is now known that the AB type can be passed down from one parent. DNA testing confirmed parentage to both.

You probably know by now, but the only possible blood types for your husband are A+/- or O+/-

You need to work the problem with each of your parents being homozygous OR heterozygous for their blood type (IAIA or IAi for your dad, and IBIB or IBi for your mom). And remember - the Rh is inherited in Mendelian fashion, so you can be either Rh+ or Rh- given your parents' phenotype.

You would have to have the gene sequenced -- a standard blood test will only tell you if you are A, B, AB or O. Alternatively, you can often figure it out if you know your parental phenotypes (and/or siblings, offspring, etc).

AB is the dominant gene. AB parent can only have children A or B or AB hence, you might be adopted & your dad could be A, B or AB. O is recessive and A and B both dominant.

You can either be type B or type O

I disagree with your second example. My dad is O and my mom is AB. They have genetically been proven to be my parents, even though I am AB blood type. This is because I am considered to have the Cis AB blood type, as well as my mom. If you research this type of blood, you will see that it occurs in particular areas and my Grandmother’s family was from one of these areas. I hope you will add a correction/ update in your video after you look into Cis AB blood type.

Yes, this channel should make an updated video about this, there are many instance that Type O Father and Type AB mother can gave birth to a Type AB Son or Daughter. Even Type A and Type O parents can have a Type AB childeen. You should not say things like Pete is not the father of the baby when your research are just the basics of blood types. Can you imagine the fathers, daughters, or sons feeling when you break them by saying things which are not yet proven? You should edit and add multiple combinations of blood types. And should apologized to those you've hurt.

Yes I am AB, my mother is O, father is AB as well. My sister is O but she has a different father. I was trying to tell my mom and sister they are not O if I’m AB, apparently it’s super rare and hardly happens but here I am, AB. On my blood donor card and on my hospital records. Hospital and blood donor place have no affiliation.

Still not help slow learner alert. So briefly help me understand this what POSSIBLE blood type could a child have or be if the Mother is B positive and the father is O negative?...my mind is not that scientific but I wanna learn a thing or two.

Nope, this video is just the basics of blood types and combinations. As per my research, blood type O can always have carry an A or B.. it's just that it is not too dominant in your blood that it won't show in a blood type test. Either your mom that is type O could have a Oa, and your Father that is also O could have been an Ob.. from your mother passing A while your Father passing B, hence you are blood type AB. There should be more advanced research needed to be done on this topics and should not be fixed of the combinations that this channel only says. Humans mutate and blood types and DNA are a very2x complicated cases.

Did you know it takes an O+ and an O- to make a Giant. Ever wonder where the tall people come from.

The oly explanation for this based on topics I have research is that all blood types carry either A,B, and O, and it is only the most dominant blood type in your body that will show upon blood type tests. For example, your mother was AB, doesn't mean she has no O, she has but not dominant. It's like she's ABo, while your Dad having A, doesn't mean he has no O, he has Ao. What maybe happened was that in your Mother, the O was passed on dominantly, then for your father as well was also the O was dominantly passed. Being O doesn't mean you only have O.. you have other types as well but not as Dominant as the O, reason that only O is showing during Blood Type Test. If you want to be 100% sure, take a DNA Test once you have the budget to keep the worries away. By meantime, treat your parents with respect and Love cause you are their daughter until proven wrong. But don't be mad just because of this video who are so insensitive to other peoples feelings. Owner of channel should edit this video and other more combinations based on factual research and studies.

Depends on what the father's two alleles are. If he's IBIB ( B & B) then the child will only be a B. If he's IBi (B & O) then the child could be either B or O.

No. If both parents are heterozygous for either A or B, they can still have an O child. For Rh, if both are heterozygous (and therefore Rh +) the child could be Rh -.

What about if you are given only the blood type of the Mother and Baby, and are asked to provide possible blood types of the father?

You will donate 'i' and your husband will donate either 'A' or 'B' so you can have type A or B children (i IA or i IB). You may produce Rh- children if each of you is heterozygous (Dd), so your final options are: A+ or A- or B+ or B-.

Mother: Ia Ia or Ia Ii Husband: ii Mystery man: Ia Ia or Ia Ii For the kid to be Blood Type A it could either be : Ia Ii , or Ia Ia. In this case both men could be the parents. A DNA test would be needed to prove paternity.

Neither male is ruled out by blood types. You would have to do a genetic analysis. Baby could be either AA or AO as could the Mystery Man. Either male could contribute O. Only if Baby is proven to be AA could the husband be ruled out.

Sort out what genotypes they might be and then you'll see what blood types their offspring might have. Hint: you know what mom is, so just combine her genotype (ii) with his - remembering that dad can be either homozygous OR heterozygous for A.

IA IB cross with ii, so only options are IAi or IBi (either A or B phenotype). As for Rh, you could be + or - (but you cannot be homozygous DD since your father is Rh-). Hope that helps!

You have to do the problem!! :) Start with all possible genotypes and see what the options are. Hint: remember, two Rh+ parents CAN have an Rh- child! That's the most common mistake students make.

The only possible results from type AB and type O mating together would be either type A or type B. Interestingly enough, this means your father is your father, as you inherited either the A or B from him. However, this means your mom ain't your mom.

You are their Daughter.. do you really believed that Type O has only Type O on it.. it could have carry an A or B, it's just that the A or B is not Dominant enough to be discovered in the blood type test.. maybe ur mother has Oa or Ob, while your Father has ABo, father passed B, mother passed A, hence you are AB.. Try to trace all your Family Tree. Do you think that your Mom doesn't carry the Genes and DNA of her ancestors? That is the beauty of DNA and Blood Types as well as Humans, it is unpredictable.. if it is that easy to understand, then they could have made perfect clones already. The chart in this video are just for normal examples and will serve as Guidelines but there is no fixed and finite combinations of Blood Type in my opinion.

Notice that when the blood type of the daughter/ son is out of the charts, the creator has no clue or answer for it and says it is not your child. The heck, as if he knows everything about the Blood Types combination and DNA of the people. The knowledge that you have now are based on studies to have a guide but not to be fixed about all the combinations of the blood group. Telling the daughter is not his is very irresponsible and idiotic just because of the chart.

At least its not Jerry Springer and people break out in fighting Lol. I heard her say that only DNA can determine the parents?
