It's a tough book. The one time I tried to read it I had it during my tired commutes to and from work. It's not a book to read without focus.

Every time you mention The Road, I remind myself to pull it off the shelf to read … only to immediately forget. Until next time.

OH I would love that. Rob Wood's art is fantastic. I'd love an AE of The Road as well. But I guess that's why I have the Folios

I read the entire LP edition. It was perfect for the novel. It puts you right in the time and place of the story.

@@THEJEFFWORD None whatsoever. I just made sure my hands were clean and dry. These are the best made books on Earth (or among them). As Gandalf warned: "It WANTS to be READ!"

I very recently found copies of the road and blood Meridian (second hand paperbacks) to read. Everyone says how amazing the road is but how blood Meridian is brutal and then some compared to the road. So I bought both and keep forgetting i own them and want to read them. Going to have to pull the trigger and start on one.

The Road is an easier read. Much more straightforward and raw. You might want to start on that one.

But no matter, you'll have some brilliant, brutal reading.

Some of their slipcases (and book-binding quality) are far superior for more expensive titles ($100+ range). These (Blood Meridian, The Road) are some of their most basic offerings.

Yes that's right. I've not purchased the pricier selections. I was tempted for a few but ultimately passed.

I agree about the last few releases that Folio has done. I haven’t been enamored with them. Not production quality - just title choices. I think the 2022 Christmas collection release was a SLAM DUNK.

I got the Limited Edition of The Lord of the Rings by Folio secondhand for $1800. Probably my most prized book, but can't wait for a matching Hobbit & Silmarillion. What's yur take on this book? Also, u got me into Suntup, and I just bought a secondhand numbered Island of Dr Moreau for $220 & a numbered Outsiders for $375. Thought it might be a good deal... And also, have u heard of Amaranthine Press? I think they're out of Croatia, but I could be wrong. They have some super fine editions of Catch 22 in stock right now, and Dracula secondhand.

It is a GREAT time to be buying Suntup books secondhand. It's been a buyer's market for a while now and you'll find deals everywhere. Congrats on those scores. Other Suntup books that are almost being given away are Guests, Butcher Boy, and Imajica. All exceptional authors and books. Yeah I know of Amaranthine but I tried to tune them out because I know I'll want what they're offering! Same goes for Lyra's and a few others. There are just too many amazing presses at the high end to stay solvent.

And I forgot to add: I think the FS edition of Blood Meridian is a nice edition. Not overly exceptional. I have the Suntup Blood Meridian and this one doesn't even come close to comparing. Though I will say I really like the art in the FS edition and when I read Blood Meridian, I'm going to be reading the FS copy. Thanks for watching and commenting with the great questions.

Great question and it'll be a fun answer. Because McCarthy is a phenomenal writer. The Road is a perfect book. Because I absolutely plan on reading Blood Meridian. Because I know I will love it, I had to have the Suntup numbered edition and I knew that the Suntup numbered edition would sell out immediately and be even more expensive and inaccessible once it did. And when Folio Society announced they were doing it, I needed a copy to go with my Folio edition of The Road. And because I actually did start reading Blood Meridian years ago, but the guy I borrowed the book from needed it back before I could finish. I didn't get Folio's No Country For Old Men though. In collecting, there are times it's better to buy first and sort it out later. If I end up HATING Blood Meridian, I have no doubt I'll be able to sell my Suntup numbered edition for a lot of money and move on.

Have you seen the Blood Meridian Pop-Up book? Talk about in your face. There's also Baby's First Blood Meridian to help ease the kids into McCarthy's oeuvre.

It's paper. I don't think I've ever gotten a cloth-bound book from FS.

I was going to get this volume, but I really don't understand why, if they go to all that work, is it not at least clothbound? Disappointing. So, I think I'll pass.

It's a fine reading copy and the art is nice. So much about bookcraft is subjective.
