Hi! Appreciate the time you took to explain this. Could you please give me an idea of why it's such a huge deal trying to get lab techs to understand why the blood of cold agglutinin disease patients *must* remain warm for certain tests and also until it gets centrifuged to obtain the serum for other tests? It's a *huge* problem for us CAD patients.

You centrifuges for 30 seconds between each wash, yes?

I was probably doing a full minute in the centrifuge for the washes. However, laboratory policies may differ. It is important that the red blood cells form a cell button at the bottom of the tube.

What reaction are you expecting after adding ahg and spinning?

In a perfect world you’d hope for no agglutination.

@@robertbounds8112 okay thanks. I really am enjoying the blood bank so far! It really is a brain teaser and a lot like solving a puzzle. Theres so much to learn but I’m hanging in there. Any tips for staying calm during an mtp? 😬

@@maybelater2650 mostly just know your facility’s policies. How much product for each cooler, etc. If you know what to do it makes things a lot less stressful. If it’s a trauma hospital there is usually someone to help in the event an MTP is called so you won’t be alone.
