You would have to be the Ambassador of horse welfare. Your passion, love’ patience and devotion to Blondie is absolutely incredible. I think the key to your success with Blondie is pure patience and complete knowledge of your horses. You really take the time and effort to investigate every possible avenue and you really put yourself into the minds of your horses. I think I can speak for most of us you are their saviour and if anyone can ease their burdens it’s you. Just make sure you take the time to look after YOU after all they need you as much as you need them . Sending you warm hugs. I’m 65 and have had horses most of my life and wish we had all this knowledge when I had my babies. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Blondie and your story has truly helped me and my horse. Mine did not have the same level of problems to work though but I learned from you to take his “bad” behavior as discomfort and not him being a “bad” horse. I had a new saddle fitted to him and a bit less bridle which he loves. I also focused on what I was doing wrong- my posture and cues. Now he loves to work and he’ll follow me willingly. I’d just like to say thank you so much for sharing your story.

Thank you for the update! So wonderful to see you use various modes of healing to help Blondie. Respecting her 'no' is so key. Also, the shift in Blondie after the animal communicator and the distance healing, some of that is her recognizing that you are willing to listen and work with her, instead of dictating how her life is going to be. Animals really do appreciate and respect effort from humans, especially when it comes from an open mind and loving heart.

Your video inspired me to get my mare DNA tested as she’d had undiagnosed odd symptoms for 2years (not the hormone’s related) e.g. standing for farrier, explosive episodes (as if a hot rod touched her) / reluctance to canter / push from behind etc. We’ve tried lots with vets to no avail and today I got have positive result back for PSSM2 P3 & PX variant 😊 I’m oddly relieved as this is my favourite kind, loving mare who will stay with us forever and now the diet transformation & exercise journey can begin! Thanks so much for sharing your story. It does make a difference ❤

What a wonderful update. I'm so happy for you and Blondie that things are moving in the right direction and Blondie feels better and can more fully enjoy her horseness. You are remarkable to gone down so many avenues for Blondie and your other horses and it is paying off for all of you. It was amazing to see you out hacking with Blondie. Having watched your other updates on her I was really unsure if you'd be able to make this kind of progress with her. I'm in awe of the work you've done and the proof is in Blondie herself: she is clearly more relaxed, happier and able to do things with you now that wasn't at all possible before. I'm very much looking forward to seeing your continued journey with this beautiful (and now lucky) horse :)

Honestly, that footage of the change in how she allows her feet to be handled would have me sold on your care of her. She looks a lot more at ease these days, and once again, I'm so impressed by how you set aside your human agenda to instead listen to what the animals in your care need to be happy and feel safe. Whatever that course may take. Figuring out your own intent and trying to understand what they're saying to you is a perpetual journey. And it's so pleasing to watch. Good work! Keep it up!

Ohhh wow what a story and I was waiting for this one! Been having some trouble with my horse and followed blondies journey. I also tested ppsm2 but it was negative. Happy about that but still not sure what the problem was. And I also learned to listen to my horse and she knows I hear her. I have stepped of wenn she told me no and looked wenn she showed me something. It is sometimes difficult but every time we figure out what is wrong. But it has given me sleepless nights and a lot of tears. This is so inspiring thank you for sharing your story.

This was so interesting on so many levels. And as a plus, I don’t know if this was on purpose, but the colors in your video background are all taupe, white, and cream with some warm brown. And both of your dogs have the same tonality. So it looks like your video was shot in an expensive film studio. Really classy!

Hi Miri, I'm in South Africa, and the feed and supplements differ from the UK. However, recently my ex-broodmare of 17 yrs had laminitis, and we discovered that her sugar levels are very high. She had very high cortisone and insulin levels too. Pure, my mare had 9 live births. She's been with me for 18 months now. So much that you describe is what I have been through with Pure. We also changed her diet to Speedi-Beet and balancer, which supports her EMS, Omega oils, and an excellent joint supplement. A good probiotic too to help the hindgut. She is kept off the grass with grazing time limited to 2 hours in the morning and is only fed teff grass and lucerne. These are high in protein. At the start of spring last August, she came into season really behaving like a stallion. Pure has had one normal full cycle season, which was rather hectic for all concerned. We think this was probably her first complete cycle in many years. It was also the first full year she wasn't in foal or lactating. She had her first foal at the age of 3, so her body has been so accustomed to having foals. In South Africa, we have a vaccine for mares (which is used extensively in the meat consumption animals and to manage the elephant herds in the wild) coming into season that stops their cycle called Improvac. It works like a vaccine to produce antibodies against gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). In mares, they find that this switches off the cycle, and they don't go through the stress of being in season. This is the hormone that sends all the signals to other hormones. It's primarily used in competing mares. Pure has become so much easier to handle. Giving the injection right at the start of the season is essential. My vet also prescribed alpha lipoic acid (ALA) to help her cells utilise the sugar in her bloodstream. ALA is an antioxidant. I'm taking some myself now to help my metabolic system and insulin. My vet has this mixed with a compounding chemist for Pure. I found with Pure, engaging with her body before we do any workout or exercise worked wonders. I rub my hands slowly down her rib cage vertically and rub the base of her neck (like massaging) until she feels calm and drops her head. For me, I close my eyes and connect with her body. The movements are done very slowly and with intention as I just calm and breathe with her not saying a word. This unique massage has been so helpful in connecting with her, so she relaxes, and we tune into each other. I also had a reading with her, which opened up a whole area we had to explore, and this is where we discovered her metabolic issue. Ensure that the balancer you're giving her does not contain high levels of iron, and you want to ensure she gets magnesium, zinc and copper. She is exercising 3 times a week very lightly now. It's sweltering here in Cape Town at the moment, so we do very light work with her, slowly building her small muscle groups and keeping the warm-up session to walking for at least 10 minutes. It's truely rewarding to see the transformation in her behaviour. It's still a work in progress. But I plan that she goes into her senior years healthy and happy and primarily pain-free enjoying her life.

She does amazing things with primarily positive reinforcement and a lot of treats.

Hi Miri, very interesting in what you said about Blondie's negative association with being handled/tacked up in the stable vs outside of it, as my gelding also displays this (he is also very sensitive/reactive and I do believe he has past trauma from his racing days as that life just didn't suit him!) . Hope you don't mind me asking, how have you/are you overcoming this with Blondie? ie any specific techniques or is it just repetition? thank you :)
