It’s working too! I just read an article in a right wing magazine that is very pro Israel and the economy is tanking and the BDS movement has really been successful. This movement will make it even worse. Puma has stopped investing in Israel they have stopped sponsoring Israeli football team. People all over the world are boycotting Israeli goods apparently.

This is all fine and all. I have blocked some of them too, but in reality, celebrities are not the main actors that bring about social change. The main actors and actresses are all of us, those who are not in the limelight, the anonymous ones, the common citizen ones. Even if tomorrow, some of them decide to speak up because of this campaign, will they do it from their heart or just to protect their business? This is why I’m not highly concerned with whether they speak up or not. They have the right to choose whether to say something or not. Now, if any of them expressed sympathy for Ukrainians and not a single word for Palestinians then I would certainly denounce their double standards

@@julihc6752 If you’re using the app. There are three dots next to each comment in the notifications section. Click on that and you have three options. One of them is to mute someone. I’m not sure if that’s a permanent whole platform mute or just for that comment thread. But from what I can gather, you can only mute someone if they’ve actually @ you and turn up in your notifications. It’s really not good enough. We should be able to mute anyone in any thread even if they haven’t responded to us directly. It would help to get rid of all the spam & trolls. YT should do better on that and give that control to the users. Currently they want all the rights to edit other people’s conversations, imperiously and impertinently.

Many of us "normal" people have shut ourselves out from family over this, our economy in the US has taken huge hits at the expense of those of us with real jobs and we're facing a real housing crisis for working class people here, yet the tax dollars keep fueling this abomination over in Israel and Palestine. SO....these celebrities need to be working at getting the right things done with their platforms and that means maybe they need to get real jobs, too.

People have had enough of attention seeking and vacant celebrities who are only interested in making money from the public. We are sick of worshipping them as idols and role models. It is all image and no substance. It is time to block and boycott them and to now focus on real role models in the community who make a difference.

Nah. *Hard disagree* about bullying celebrities that don't speak out, even though I absolutely hope that Palestinians get out from under the boot of Israel and get their own state. I guarantee that having a "you're with us or you're against us" policy will, if anything, activate most unaffiliated people's 'f*** you' reflex (regardless of the merits of the issue) and make them come down against the issue you are trying to push them on. That is just human nature. To people with no knowledge of the issue, forcing celebrities to express a certain view comes across as bullying, and no-one likes a bully. It is also a massive propaganda gift for your opponents, who can then effortlessly redirect conversations about what is happening in Gaza to "what about all the cancel culture/forcing celebrities to agree with you?" so that they look like the victims. News feeds about Palestinian suffering will be replaced by feeds about how celebrity X was cancelled by the woke mob for wrongthink, or whatever. It also blurs the line between celebrities who genuinely have strong feelings about the issue and those who are just trying not to get cancelled. Tldr: trying to force celebrities to speak out for the Palestinians is a dumb, dumb, dumb, idea and it *will* backfire. Don't do it. Palestinians are already starting to win in the court of public opinion. Don't f*** it up.

Absolutely NO. Blocking celebs who aren't saying anything is wrong. If they were openly advocating for Israel fine. But an abstention should be treated as neutral. They are private citizens who have a right to abstain from controversy. And they of all people are as powerless as the rest of you. You go after governments and corporations not individuals. If anything it will have a backlash effect, they will be resentful to you and your cause. You make an enemy out of a neutral you make a future friend impossible.

i taught the new generation is lost. But actually they showed us humantiy and justice that we lost . free palestine

I feel that calling out Palestinians celebrities isn't the best option out there. Bcuz in d west , Palestinians have way less agency dan Jews. A Palestinian celeb wud be disproportionately n viciously targeted when compared to anyother celeb thats pro israel. Not to mention, celebrities are a soft target, d real impact will only be felt when the business houses are asked for accountability, dat is also where d real money lies. . .

@@johnmpandaguta3289 I know, and I am so inspired by them taking a stand for Palestine. But as issues like these are usually so complex, it's not as simple as just calling out a celebrity. I know every movement or protest matures with time, we can't get it all perfect at d get go. But it's also important to critique ourselves constructively, if we are to engage in any form of protest .
