A very good Sunday evening to you all

In the UK [I think it may be the same in the USA/Australia] the landlord is responsible for the drains from the main [Water board] to the building and the tenant for the inside pipework [unless it breaks]. As others have said the tenant should have informed the LandLord and got them to pay.

The tenant arranged for Gavin and didn’t notify the landlord. Big no no. Notify the landlord in writing by certified mail and give a deadline informing them to fix it or you will get it fixed and deduct the cost from the rent. Went through this with my landlord one time. He had mold and wouldn’t fix it then wouldn’t return my security when I moved. I sued and won. Because I had documentation that I informed him and he refused to fix it.

I agree, not to mention I don’t even see why the property owners don’t at least pay the tenant back for this expense. If it was me, I would’ve taken the property owners to court.

Don't joke about the real estate kicking due to that. Might happen one day (even with the RTA) One property I know of has blocked storm drains. Every time it rainy heavily the car ports flood as the drain along the driveway has issues. Apparently a quote was given to fix it $10,000 . They talk of digging up the whole driveway (drain runs parallel to the driveway - 5 units long) with drains separating the garages and the drain pipe (grills). I think the easier solution would be to just dig a trench along the lawn and dig up just about 2 feet of concrete where it joins on the edge of the building. Jet up the existing pipe and just lay down some new PVC to join (i.e. discard the pipe under the driveway) to the road (maybe 6 - 7 metres) 4:35 I see why he wants it fixed. I can imagine that going under the door and into the unit.

He says the hose stopped because of too many bends he couldn't get past. He never mentioned roots as an issue and didn't show us any bits of roots as he went thru. If he can't get the penetrator past all the bends, there's no way the camera could either.

I don’t have a going rate… I have years of data collected. That data goes in a calculator.. for me to work to high standard and stay in business the calculator spits out a figure. My jobs are all based on what this calculator tells me. Hope that helps

sounds like a sorry excuse of a landlord or as we in the usa call them slum lords cause they don't want to do upkeep on the rental properties only aesthetics to make them look good but they are really in bad shape and tend to try to violate tenant rights. in the usa those drains would be by law the responsibility of the landlord

They are by law the responsibility of the owner in Australia, Australia's tenancy laws are far stricter than the USA. Just this guy didn't seem to care for some reason maybe he tried to wash something down it who knows.
