It is not a speculative investment even though it is being used as such by other people. As Bitcoin network grows the value of Bitcoin grows. As people move into Bitcoin for payments and receipts they stop using US Dollars, Euros and Chinese Yuan which in the long-term devalues these currencies.

Yes - those were snapshots of the Satoshi white paper sections describing the blockchain, time stamps, proof of work and the probability of an attack chain. If you have not read it, it is one of the most fascinating reads out there. Check out the bitcoin dot org website.

it was kind of left out. there are 2 main aspects that make it trust-free: the proof of work mining and the ability for anyone to run and verify the blockchain ledger themselves.

Fair point. The ETH white paper describes smart contracts as “a piece of code implementing arbitrary rules” but I could have gone further to talk about DAaps. This was really a non-technical talk. I was trying to explain the concepts to non-users who are totally unfamiliar with blockchain. Thanks for the comment.
