Best "How to" on You Tube. I keep looking for more from you. Best instruction I have seen. Wish we could see it go all the way through base coat, color sand, clear coat ,etc. I would also like to see how you have set up the shop. There are many tricks to the trade to keep areas clean, organized, air dry and sediment free, etc. Share all you can. Subscribed and waiting for more.

Dry sanding primer works so much better if you cut on the forward stroke and lift slightly on the back stroke. This pushes the sanding dust away from the block rather than pushing it back and forth under the block.

Once you have it to bare metal, you can apply your bodyfiller.Some people will do a coat of Epoxy primer first and apply there bodyfiller on top of that. If you ask any bodyfiller manufacturer they will recommend applying the filler over roughed up bare metal. You can take it to bare metal several ways. Air craft or Zip strip are one way depending on how many layers you have. Or you could knock it down with a DA and 80 grit.When we do a whole car we have it media blasted.
@MustangstoFear11 жыл бұрын
Yes it does, you can sand the low spot out with 180 grit or 80 grit and put a skim coat of filler over it.
@gfoxer11 жыл бұрын
Question on the dry guide coat...After blocking, if low spots are still visible and require another coat or two of surfacing primer (or even a skim coat of filler) does the dry guide coat have to be cleaned out of the low spots or will it accept filler/primer with no problem right on top of it?
@boobies198911 жыл бұрын
Ok well what do you think would be equivalant to that? Im trying to do this my first time. Should I just lay a etching primer on the bare metal spots and then then filler primer on everything else then block sand with a guide coat? then follow with epoxy primer and a basecoat? I should mention im doing this with spray cans except for BC and CC. Thanks!!

.250 inch Plexiglas or acrylic works good for making sanding blocks. Make them to fit the car or panel you are working on. Bevel the edges about .020 and sand diagonally so you don't cut tracks with the edges. Use 3M Photo mount spray adhesive to make your own sticky sandpaper if you want to use Wetordry and water.

so if you paint a door, you do body work like dents and bondo first, then put expoxy primer on 5 times to build it up, then block sand and guide coat to smooth it, then a second time to recheck, then a third time as a final primer sealer?
