We live in the PNW and can definitely relate when snow storm hit. It gets icy out and it’s just nice not to have to leave the house. Your advice about charging the phone and download shows/ movies is def great advice. ❄️ Hope you and Sydney are staying warm and cozy.

Indiana here, I think it’s the way we were raised. Myself, my mom stocked up like 1-2 times a month bulk wise and meats, then stopped in for fresh and milk and such. Whereas my husband, his mom ran to the store every 5 min it seemed and she still does. I like having stock of things. I go into slight panic when I get low on stuff 🤦 I like to have backups. A well stocked non perishable pantry. Hope you have a great week!

This is exactly what I’m doing right now. Preparing for a nice big snow storm. About 1/4 inch of ice first and somewhere around 12-18 inches of snow which is a lot for the Midwest. I’m cleaning and doing laundry and my husband is preparing the generator!

I'm from Alabama we all run to the grocery store on predicted snow days grabbing milk, eggs, bread and toilet paper lol. I was nervous when covid hit about not having food and shelves were bare still are at times which added to my fear and the toilet paper situation just frustrated me so definitely get why people feel that way in emergency situations because I'm the same hopefully it's not as bad for you guy's stay safe.

So we prep the same for hurricanes down here in East Texas. After last year's snowmaggedon we bought a generator. It doesn't power the entire house, just enough to keep cell phones charged and a few appliances going. I hope we don't have to use it any time soon.

I LOVE snow, however here in Nashville, TN we rarely get any. We did have a nice one about 3 weeks ago. Five or so inches. It was nice. Everyone absolutely FREAKS out, at the first word of snow, lol. I actually like the excitement of it all, but again, we're just not used to getting much of it. You're lucky. You get snow, decent summers, AND the beach!

This isn't outside the norm for Philly either. The problem is people panic buy and then there are those drivers who, even in a rainstorm, act as though they've never encountered precipitation before. It's pathetic. But most people handle the level of snow we got out of this "Kenan" with equanimity. The big deal is meeting one's legal obligations re: shovelling for safety et al. I hate not having eggs around in general. Ice or heavy, wet snow on wires are more likely to give us power outages than just a deep, powdery, blowing snow. It isn't true that the meteorologists don't know what will come. It's that you have to get close to when the storm hits and watch what they are showing you about the anticipated movement of the storm. We got more snow than they initially thought because as the storm moved northeast the heavier snow moved more inland along the western snowline. It wasn't a crapshoot. It was known within a day of the event. It also moved a bit faster than they anticipated at the beginning of the week, so we got hit earlier Friday and it didn't last as long into Saturday, as they'd originally forecast. Until we totally deaden a living environment, they will never be able to predict all factors of a nor'easter with no variations whatsoever a week or even half a week ahead of it. That is a good popcorn. We have popcorn, Girl Scout cookies, eggs, milk, and bread. LOL. We're set. We also need shovels and warm clothes and boots and heat and rock salt or reasonable facsimile. LOL. Hot chocolate. Coffee. Candles. Things to keep warm in the car. Batteries. LOL. You are wise to let people know what all it involves to be prudent, practical. Sleds, scrapers.
