Blitz Diplomacy!
CaptainMeme solo-commentates his 5min/phase Speedpress game, played as part of the Nexus Leagues tournament. Featuring the new webDiplomacy map and interface (currently in Beta)!

Diplomacy is a negotiation-based board game set during World War One. 7 players each control one great power (England, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Russia, and Turkey) and fight for control of Europe, using their diplomatic skill to make covert deals with one another and to backstab their friends.

Austria's a really tough draw in any game, let alone a 5min/phase one! I think you did fine in negotiations, but you needed to keep Turkey onside early when you pushed them into Rumania. Moving into Bulgaria was a bit too aggressive imo!

Writing this before I watch: The reason I can't get into diplomacy is because of the massive amount of time you need to invest into a single game. I predict this game is going to be vastly more interesting with the 5 minute timer!

Great game, this mode seems like a ton of fun! Haven't played dip in like a year at this point but maybe I'll try and get in one of these games.
Fun game, would have loved to see if with the other guy ribbing you about your play but it was enjoyable being able to read the entire negotiations

I like the new webdip redesign. It would be nice if it played a little better with dark themes.

If you do another one of these, I think there's enough content for one of your more common 3+ hour videos. Devote some more time to the press, perhaps. But I like this a lot.

I'll think through how to format it! The problem with analysing press is that it generally either takes forever (see Media Wars) or requires heavy planning (which I'm bad at). Probably couldn't do that with the press running live so would have to choose specific messages to focus on in advance.
Is 5 minutes the set time in this SP or can it be revised to say 10 mins on the site?

5min is the standard we use for Blitz, but there are a lot of other options the site allows you to choose for phase length - 10min is indeed one of them.
