Blinken’s Visit and Biden’s True Colors: Imperialist Arrogance Toward China

Read Ken Hammond’s new book on China here:
1804books.com/products/chinas...
The United States has made provocation after provocation toward China - and this week, the day after Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s trip to China to reduce U.S.-China tension, U.S. President Biden denigrated Chinese President Xi Jinping, calling him a “dictator” and alleging that he didn’t know what was going on in his own country. Blinken’s trip was supposed to be months ago, but was rescheduled because of another provocation - when the United States shot down a Chinese balloon.

To solicit donations, he needs to please his supporters whom he targets to reach into their pockets. And his way of pleasing his supporters is by talking rubbish about China, as if he were a patriot defending the US. After all, Biden is often unaware of what he's saying. Biden cannot talk about solving any problems, because in a democratic leader election system, a leader is elected not because of competence, but because of popularity. Remember, there is a presidential popularity survey, but there has never been a presidential competency survey. President of the US, whoever it is, democrat or republican, is a person who has the support of his supporters, both funds and votes, not because of competence, but because of popularity. Hopefully those who are elected as president because of their popularity also have some competence. If not, then what you get is a fool like Biden.

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said the United States has been at peace for only 16 of its 242 years as a nation, calling the country "the most warlike nation in the history of the world." From directly launching wars, backing proxy wars, stirring up inter-state hostilities to engineering "color revolutions," the United States has been involved in most of the major warfares or military conflicts since WWII. These wars and conflicts have devastated the invaded countries, killed millions of civilians, and displaced tens of millions.William Jones, Washington bureau chief of the U.S. publication Executive Intelligence Review, has said that Russia's main concern about NATO eastward expansion has never been heeded by the United States, "which is only interested in maintaining its hegemonic status in Europe, and which has been steadily retreating from that collaborative policy which the West committed itself to after the Cold War."

During one of his fundraising campaigns, President Biden referred to President Xi as a "dictator." However, this raises the question of how the US itself should be perceived. If we examine the historical records, it becomes evident that the US has been involved in numerous instances of war crimes, resulting in the loss of millions of civilian lives since the Cold War era. Starting from 1989 with the invasion of Panama, followed by the Gulf War in 1991, and the intervention in Somalia in 1993, the US has been embroiled in military actions that have had devastating consequences for innocent civilians. The list continues with the atrocities in Rwanda in 1994, the conflict in Bosnia in 1995, and the involvement in Nigeria in 1998. The US further expanded its military engagements with the controversial interventions in Kosovo in 1999, Afghanistan in 2001, and Iraq in 2003. In more recent years, we have witnessed the US-led intervention in Libya in 2011, the devastating conflict in Yemen since 2015, and the ongoing crisis in Syria since 2016. Ukraine conflict 2022 and Taiwan soon will be on the list. This history of military actions raises doubts about the moral high ground claimed by the US when characterizing other leaders as dictators. Now, who is the 'Dictator' here?

When Xi Jin Ping took over the reins more than a decade ago, he was determined to wipe out corruption at all levels, even after a few assassination attempts on his life. He has not only succeeded in cleaning up corruption, we see more infrastructure being built, integrity in food safety n quality, trust and order at every level, from policymaking, to the law keepers eg policemen, who carry out their duties with a sense of duty and pride, making the community cohesive and peaceful. Who are we to say that we can do better? China is such a huge country, 1.4 billion population, once very poor and underdeveloped. The Communist regime formula worked for China, so let’s respect that and not try to prescribe democracy or anything else.

The problem is the rivalry because US wants to be the unique master of the world, and believes in that china will replace it. But china has claimed that don't want to rule the world. Proposing a multipolarity, not monopolization. China never conquered to colonize other country, only want trade and positive relationship with all.

You should check out how many went to the Saint Petersburg forum... Crazy times ahead. The US seems to be doing an amazing job at isolating itself on the global stage. I think Europe should be who is really concerned in all this, though. They can't afford to be isolated from their neighbors across the Mediterranean nor the East like the US can, especially when I see how many around those regions are signing peace treaties quicker than I was expecting. It's as if the US is making Europe a buffer with the East at Europe's expense.

China has exhibited an incredible ability to adopt and adapt to innovations in practically every domain, and at a speed and scale that is unmatched elsewhere on earth. This phenomenon is an embodiment of China’s dynamism, and not the so-called “authoritarianism”. In fact, since the beginning of the much touted “Reform and Opening-up” four decades ago, China has been enthusiastically embracing, learning and assimilating, the best of what the West has to offer, without eroding its own formidable cultural heritage, bequeathed upon it from its 3,500 years of recorded history. This phenomenon also goes to show that China does not (as what the Western propagandists would like us to believe) oppress its citizens’ pursuit of liberty, freedom, and happiness. Conspicuously, China has every reason to be confident and proud of its own sociopolitical and socioeconomic system - that it is indeed highly desirable and competitive.

Now that they are a great power on par with US and Russia, they seem to feel compelled to ape the arrogance also of US and Russia. In the process, they become imperialists too, and their growth has stagnated. The world wants leadership that is better than America, not just copying America. That, I guess, is why so much starry-eyed wishful thinking in praise of China on this forum.

The Professor made a point about America not fundamentally understanding China, China’s history, Chinese thinking and China’s 5000 year political system. A couple of top diplomats (Kishore Mahbubani & George Yeo) from my country, Singapore have also mentioned this in interviews with American and European audiences in Singapore and abroad (Harvard Uni, etc). If you want to plant an apple tree that will bear sweet, crunchy apples; you need to understand and gain all the knowledge about apple trees - type of soil and weather conditions, pruning, fertilisers, watering, etc. A Mango or orange tree would require difference needs, etc.

1, before Blinken visited China, no world citizens with conscience expected anything from him as a US leader. 2, world citizens do not care what US leaders say or do, we do not expect any one of them to be different 3, it is up to US citizens to decide whether they want their leaders lead them to where Zelensky has led Ukrainians to.

This is the way how US imperialism behave. Say one thing and does the opposite. The excuse is always ( opposite uttering)is only for home consumption. This ' forked' tongue behaviour never seems to cease. So I see no point in talking to the Americans from the Chinese point of view. Examples are countless e.g. agreed to one China policy and at the same time pushing for Taiwan independence; sell weapons, sent military ' advisors ' ( to me already crossed red line); sending warships ( plus vassals' ) repeatedly to coastal China. This schizophrenic US policy is enshrined in exceptionalism doctrines. Needs a good dose of antipsychotic for change.

Sadly, what and how can the white settlers counter what the Native Americans have said about them through the centuries as being people with forked tongues? There is no honour among them. Look at the EU now, in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, where the Anglo-Saxons come from. They have not betrayed their forebears.
