I remember in 2003 hanging with buddies talking about girls we had absolutely no chance with, but somehow on a summer day while this was playing you felt like you were on top of the world without a care. Man, the things I took for granted.

You are not supposed to be aware of all the shit waiting for you in adult life--so it's easy to feel on top of the world. We all feel that way as teenagers. The only difference for me was the decade and the music (Aerosmith, Boston and Rush).

Certainly the best track on the self-titled. It's up there for me though. It's a very complete song. Might be a tie with What's My Age Again? which is such a simple song but effective and really distills the essence of Blink

I still remember learning about how they made this song. Tom and Mark went to separate rooms to write whatever came to their minds. Mark wrote about tragic love, Tom wrote about sex. Then they came back together, realized how different their messages were, and decided to fully integrate both messages into the song. Genius shit. Love this song.

This song perfectly encompasses Tom's and Mark's dynamic. Tom makes me feel excited and young, whereas Mark's delivery is more somber but still holding onto that same energy and youth Tom has.

I always felt bad for him cuz I could tell he was depressed for years an kept listening to blink 182 on repeat especially the more down down songs. It’s gotta be a complicated emotion listening to Blink. Thanks for sharing, man. And don’t let go of the things that remind you of him.
Lyric: I got no regret right now (I'm feeling this) The air is so cold and low (I'm feeling this) Let me go in her room (I'm feeling this) I wanna take off her clothes (I'm feeling this) Show me the way to bed (I'm feeling this) Show me the way you move (I'm feeling this) Fuck it, it's such a blur (I'm feeling this) I love all the things you do (I'm feeling this) Fate fell short this time, your smile fades in the summer Place your hand in mine, I'll leave when I wanna Where do we go from here? Turn all the lights down now Smiling from ear to ear (I'm feeling this) My breathing has got too loud (I'm feeling this) Show me the bedroom floor (I'm feeling this) Show me the bathroom mirror (I'm feeling this) We're taking this way too slow (I'm feeling this) Take me away from here (I'm feeling this) Fate fell short this time, your smile fades in the summer Place your hand in mine, I'll leave when I wanna (Fate fell short this time, your smile fades in the summer) (Place your hand in mine, I'll leave when I wanna) This place was never the same again after you came and went How could you say you meant anything different To anyone standing alone on the street With a cigarette on the first night we met Look to the past and remember and smile And maybe tonight I can breathe for awhile I'm not in the scene I think I'm falling asleep But then all that it means is I'll always be dreaming of you Fate fell short this time, your smile fades in the summer Place your hand in mine, I'll leave when I wanna Fate fell short this time, your smile fades in the summer Place your hand in mine, I'll leave when I wanna Fate fell short this time, your smile fades in the summer Place your hand in mine, I'll leave when I wanna Fate fell short this time, your smile fades in the summer Place your hand in mine, I'll leave when I wanna Fate fell short this time, your smile fades in the summer Place your hand in mine, I'll leave when I wanna

I hate it when people say Mark and Tom suck at singing live..You people gotta understand being on stage DOES require a lot of energy, their voices get exhausted and even though they have been doing this a long time they get nervous, and that changes voice tone. Blink fan for life. :P

I remember this was on madden 03 or 04… me and my younger brothers would get up on summer mornings and play on our desktop computer, creating players and teams and just loving life and everytime this song came on we just jammed out. Takes me back to childhood innocence. There was nothing to worry about and days were just full of roaming around the neighborhood with friends, riding bikes and playing pretend. Sad that those days are gone but glad that they happened. Good memories!

The end of this song is just absolutely amazing. Long live Blink.

I’ve loved this song since it came out and it was only last year after I saw them live that I realised the first set of choruses are just set to a drumbeat. It really makes that final chorus with the full band sound so much more EPIC. 🔥🙌

Not really. This is the best of the best which involves slightly unconventional dynamics (for pop punk at least) and with a fair bit of experimentation. It's way better than pop punk.
This is probably my favorite Blink 182 song. Mark and Tom actually both sing a lot instead of one doing back up vocals for the other, or just having one of them sing. Also at the end when they are singing over each other that part sounds really good. I wish they had more songs where both of them sing almost the same amount.
@MalaysianTropikfusion

It's my favourite, too, because of the clever vocal mixes. Genius stuff.
@joshrobidoux7887

They wrote two songs about the same thing independently and simultaneously and made them one song... if you listen carefully you will understand that Tom is singing about physical urges while Mark is singing about the emotional sensation of being in love... this song proved to me that they were more creative and ingenious than folks gave them credit for.
Man I miss these days of punk rock

I remember sitting at the skatepark with my friends smoking a joint and listening to this in autumn 2003 just after release with the only girl skater that could skate as well as we could and day dreaming about her. 20 years later we are happily married with a couple of kids. It's amazing the nostalgia a single song can bring to you.

I remember being in high school in 2007. I had the biggest crush on this guy and we had plans to walk home together the next day after school. I remember dancing around to this song in my room so excited that I would be walking home with him the next day. It perfectly captured my attraction and lust for this kid and whenever I listen to it now, I can feel the butterflies I had in my stomach for him. Crazy how you seem to feel things 1000x more as a teen.

Lmao we became really good friends for a few years throughout high school and I was so obsessed with him but he only saw me as a friend! Then we drifted apart in grade 12. I’ve ran into him a few times when I was in university and it was nice to say hi. He’s married now and looks super happy so I’m very happy for him :) still miss him as a friend sometimes though! We just got along so well! Lol

when i was in high school it sort of made me mad that these guys wrote these songs in their 30s, well beyond their teenage angst (which, at the time i saw as their main demographic appeal). Now as a 24 year old I appreciate their music more than when I was 12. Age is only a number. It is not "pop-punk," these guys just make you feel like a teenager when you listen to them, and that is awesome. I miss it.

I can tell you that I grew up listening Limp Biskit, MM, Korn, Papa Roach, 3 doors down, Rage against of machine among others that when they started to came out. Perhaps, I am confuse because I don;t know what generation category I belong base on these type music but at least you and I know were we coming from and technically this is not the "millennial" booty generation music. I hope this helps.
