Blink 182 - Adam's Song

Музыка

Greatest Hits is a greatest hits compilation album by Blink-182, released on November 1, 2005, following the band's split earlier in the year. A DVD, Greatest Hits, was also released, featuring the same title and cover. The disc included most of the band's music videos.
"Carousel" was not on the original track-listing for the album, but after fan complaints it was included.
Fans are known to have complained about the DVD footage, as all of it was included on previous releases - the live footage on The Urethra Chronicles II, and the behind the scenes footage on the first three singles from the Blink-182 album. The only exclusive video was "What's My Age Again?" (Live In Chicago), although the DVD menu credits it as the performance featured on "The Urethra Chronicles" from London in 1999. An edited version was released (like some other Blink-182 albums).

"Remember the time when I spilled the cup of apple juice in the hall? please tell mom this was not her fault." In reality this isn't a big deal. However, the thought of having lied to your mom, is something difficult to get over. And at the verge of death it's something you really would lIke to get off your chest. This song is great.

I never thought I'd die alone I laughed the loudest, who'd have known? I trace the cord back to the wall No wonder it was never plugged in at all I took my time, I hurried up The choice was mine, I didn't think enough I'm too depressed to go on You'll be sorry when I'm gone I never conquered, rarely came Sixteen just held such better days Days when I still felt alive We couldn't wait to get outside The world was wide, too late to try The tour was over, we'd survived I couldn't wait 'til I got home To pass the time in my room alone I never thought I'd die alone Another six months I'll be unknown Give all my things to all my friends You'll never step foot in my room again You'll close it off, board it up Remember the time that I spilled the cup Of apple juice in the hall Please tell mom this is not her fault I never conquered, rarely came Sixteen just held such better days Days when I still felt alive We couldn't wait to get outside The world was wide, too late to try The tour was over, we'd survived I couldn't wait till I got home To pass the time in my room alone I never conquered, rarely came Tomorrow holds such better days Days when I can still feel alive When I can't wait to get outside The world is wide, the time goes by The tour is over, I've survived I can't wait 'til I get home To pass the time in my room alone Traducir al español Fuente: LyricFind Compositores: Mark Hoppus / Tom DeLonge Letra de Adam’s Song © Kobalt Music Publishing Ltd.,

If examined further, this song is actually an anti-suicide song. "This song is about me being lonely on tour before finding the woman I love. It's also about depression, but as bad as things get, there's got to be something better on the other side. There's always hope, and you can count on your best friend who is always there for you and so on." -Mark Hoppus-

Lukas Durler The song wasn't written for a kid who committed suicide. It was about Mark Hoppus being depressed while touring. That is why he sings ""I couldn’t wait til I got home/To pass the time in my room alone" as well as "the tour is over we survived". Later AFTER the song was released a survivor of the Columbine Massacred committed suicide to this song but that was after it was released

Hoppus penned "Adam's Song" to vent these frustrations and the loneliness he experienced on the tour; while the other members had longtime girlfriends to return home to, Hoppus was single.[5] The couplet "I couldn’t wait til I got home/To pass the time in my room alone" originally ended "to get off the plane alone."[1] In addition, the song was inspired by an article about a teenager's suicide and the note he left for his parents.[6] When Hoppus brought the song to the band, the trio reacted positively, considering it excellent although very dark.[7] Although usually vocals would take many alternate takes to complete, Hoppus completed the vocal track for "Adam's Song" in a single take.[6] The song makes a reference to "Come as You Are" by Nirvana, which includes the lyric "Take your time, hurry up, the choice is yours, don't be late." "Adam's Song," in turn, includes the lyric "I took my time, I hurried up, The choice was mine, I didn't think enough." Internet rumors circulated that the song was inspired by a letter, possibly from a fan, that Hoppus had read.[8] Other online theories included that the song was inspired by a friend from Hoppus' high school years who committed suicide, or a play titled Adam's Letter that has the same focus as the song.[8] A fictional suicide note, which was a part of the script for Adam's Letter, circulated online at the time of the song’s release. "The naming of the central character was a coincidence […] I had no knowledge of Blink-182 or their music at that time," remarked John Cosper, the writer behind Adam's Letter.[8]

ya know it's kinda funny. That line "Another 6 months I'll be unknown" fits the feelings that this kid and any other kid who is suicidal feels, yet in this kids case, it's been years since it happened yet millions of people hear this song all the time. He isn't unknown at all. No one is, because somewhere someone is thinking of them.

this song hits hard, here's the LONG context: okay, i have like a bullying past (always a victim) i am really shameful, introverted, and i hate fights and stuff like that. from 7 to 9 years old i suffered from bullying and mistreatment from other people from my same age. my bullies found in me an easy, little, weak, and stupid girl, that wouldn't say anything because she expected them to stop someday, or someone to stop them. i'm in high school now, and today, FUCK, i had a horrible experience with a girl named Kiara. like three months ago, we had a situation here's the context: i was standing in the bus, and she was sitting on one of my girl friend's legs, while they were talking, and I AM AN INTROVERT, so i just kept listening to music when suddenly this bitch tells me: "move, go away from here, see! there's a free seat on the front" i replied: "hey, just ignore me and pretend i dunno exist" and she said: "uhmm, i can't, move, please" i didn't move, i think i made the correct choice. well so, today we had this fucking terrible episode where i was sitting on the bus, and she went and said: "hey, can you move?" and i GAVE HER MY MF SEAT. okay, this ain't that bad, but then she was eating, and she PASSED HER FUCKING FINGERS ON MY SWEATER TO CLEAN THEM, and i got frozed. i didn't say anything, i was standing there, feeling abs SHOCKED while the WHORE WAS STARING AT ME WITH THIS LOOK, LIKE: "hey, you wanna fight?" SHE DOESN'T KNOW MEEE FUCK, I KNOW HER, SHE'S A MEAN GIRL, i know her manners, she's mean to almost evrybody i'm done, with her, and with everything. but the most painful thing, is that ALL THE MEMORIES from all the people who hurt me are coming back and i feel like i'm in a bubble, i can't handle this, i feel really sad :( i want to know why she does this, i just can talk cause im afraid of her, and i don't see this situation like TOOO severe, but im scared, because if i give her this confidence, maybe she would do worst things to me :( ps: if you read it all, i love you
