This is literally Cupid and Psyche with a happy ending. For those who don’t know: Cupid is the son of Venus the goddess of love. Venus sends Cupid to punish a beautiful woman for being worshipped by men instead her. The woman is a princess named Psyche. She hates the attention, fearing it could get her in trouble. Cupid is sent to make her fall in love with a hideous man as punishment. Cupid accidentally nicks himself with his own arrow and falls for her. He then forced his mother to allow him to marry her by refusing to do his job. He collects psyche and brings her to his opulent palace. He is invisible at this point so she could fall for his personality rather than his godly looks. Psyche is ok at first, but after a trip to see her family, starts to believe she has married some horrible beast who wants to eat her (and not in the sexy way). She eventually decides she’s going to see him at night while he sleeps. She lights a candle and sneaks into his chambers. She sees this beautiful man with wings. She leans down to kiss his face, but gets melted candle wax on him cashing him to jolt awake. He vanishes, angry and disappointed. She then has to live on by herself alone. Depending on the telling, he either ditches her entirely or forgives her after a few years.

One common telling is that Cupid/Eros himself isn't mad at her, but Venus/Aphrodite is, and she forces them to separate. She then has to do several hard tasks (while pregnant with his child) to "prove" herself to Venus/Aphrodite. Eventually, she dies when she goes to the underworld to get some makeup (??? or something similar) for Venus/Aphrodite from Proserpina/Persephone (that she secretly laced with something to make Venus/Aphrodite to fall into a deep sleep). She was so insecure about how she looked, however, since she was dirty and had been through so much. She wanted to look good for Cupid/Eros, so she opened Venus/Aphrodite's "makeup" and she ended up dying. However, she was turned into a goddess and they lived happily ever after. The end.

@@sydney9000 Yeah Eros was so mad when she dies that he threatens Zeus to make her a goddess or else he will bring chaos into the world and the gods by pulling the arrow recklessly.

Three big things I realized: 1) Angel wore no clothes the entire time 2) Angel can never "close his eyes" because light will always pass through his invisible eyelids, meaning he always sees. It's literally impossible for him to block his own sight. 3) Therefore, Angel is the complete opposite of being blind. He's even more opposite than a sighted person because even a sighted person can block out their own sight, but Angel never can. Angel permanently sees, just as a blind person permanently doesn't see.

If i bounces back (reflects) - it will reach our eyes and we’ll be able to see him. - No invisibility. If it gets absorbed - The light will not bounce back and he will appear as a black figure. Like a black spot in a white canvas. For invisibility, light has to go through him, phasing through his retina and making him blind ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. If light phases through everything in his body EXCEPT his retina, then we will be able to see floating retinas which is gross and scary to see. Yallll here’s the main plot and the explanation his dad was a magician that could actually turn invisible so when his mom came he knew if he stayed longer she would have found out and the reason she wasn’t thinking that her child’s a ghost or un real is because she already knew the magician her loves secret

This is the most perfectly clean man in all of existence. Not even a single spec of dust or dirt on his naked body. Swimming in water never leaves him wet, stepping in mud doesn't even leave a spec of dirt on his feet. Absolutely pristine cleanliness achieved.

I really hoped that he would gain visibility at the end miraculously just as his father vanished into thin air After all it was not his fault he was born invisible that's so not fair. I'm happy he got happiness which he deserved but still he deserved much more

I think the audience is supposed to role play as Angel, since most scenes from Angel's perspective is in first person, in fact, I saw an anime using this concept too. Wonderfully executed. Things Not Seen made more sense because it happened to a teenaged boy who knew he had to be quiet when he couldn't be seen. The girls mother eventually knew about him because she was an involved parent. Then at the end I believe he got cured.

The bit with them playing hide and seek made me tear up, that was the purest thing I've seen all week.

This is the invisible man movie we didn't know we needed but wanted.

This is low-key a really good power to have, you could travel for free, eat food for free, hell if you even wanted you could be a vigilante and no one would know.

Even with this recap, I'm in tears. What a touching story.

This movie is so weird and yet..there's something so beautiful about it.

I feel like this history could go a lot smoother for Angel IF HE LEARNED HOW TO USE CLOTHES. I mean, does a invisible person would not wanted to see itself at any cost? I'm baffled by how he's never even used a shirt or pants in his life(probably never even used a diaper when infant) or not even question the purpose of clothes to his mother, i'm surprised he never even looked like he felt cold to wear something to warm himself. I'm probably overthinking this, but damn, this heartwarming story loses his magic(at least for me) when i see a creepy naked boy stalking a blind and immaculate girl. Just makes me imagine like this is some sort of a delusional fantasy of a outcast turned child predator.

You told that story so elegantly and beautiful even though I cannot speak French listening to you tell the story was more important than anything in the world such a beautiful Invisible Man story this is really a Twist on all the invisible men stories I've ever heard and I think this was so wonderful and beautiful and heartwarming if they ever did an English version of it I definitely would want to see it this is going to make me want to learn French in the meantime you start you told a good story

Reminds me of the story of the god Cupid and his wife, the wife is promised love and anything that Cupid can grant her, but on the condition that she never know who Cupid is or see his face, eventually she wants to see her husband in his true glory, she waits in his bedroom to see his face. The reason that Cupid didn't want his wife to see his face was a test of trust, and unlike in the movie, his face was not seen willingly.
